AT 47, MARICEL SORIANO WANTS A 'SIMPLE
LIFE'
MANILA, AUGUST 18, 2012 (ABS-CBN) At 47, Diamond Star 'thankful'
for blessings! Now past intrigues and controversies, and with a career spanning
decades, veteran actress Maricel Soriano said she now looks forward to having a
"simple life."
Taking inspiration from the long-running sitcom "John En Marsha," in which
she starred with the late film icon Dolphy, Soriano said even those with less in
life can find reasons to be happy.
"'Yung 'John En Marsha' kasi, epitome ng isang pamilya na nagbibigay
inspirasyon sa lahat, na 'di komo mahirap lamang tayo, at kakarampot lang ang
kinikita natin, ika nga, pwede parin tayo maging masaya," Soriano told reporters
on Friday, as she showed support to comedians Jose Manalo and Wally Bayola for
their upcoming film.
Keeping it 'light'
Known for her feisty roles on screen, the 47-year-old actress laughs her
worries away in real life, in hopes of lightening any burden in her professional
and personal life.
"Lately gusto ko tawa nang tawa, para light lang. Simple ang buhay. Dapat
happy tayo kung anong meron. Kung anong meron tayo, ipagpapa-salamat natin
dapat. Dapat araw-araw, ipagpapa-salamat natin na, 'Uy, I'm alive,'" Soriano
said.
Dubbed the country's "Diamond Star," Soriano said she is thankful for her
gains, among them the recent developments in her acting career, which she has
opted to keep under wraps.
"Dapat simple at masaya. Para wala tayong iniintdi. Dapat palagi nating
nakikita kung ano 'yung mga meron tayo," she said.
Of her upcoming projects in showbiz, Soriano said: "Marami sigurong
mae-expect, kaya lang hindi ko gusto mapre-empt, kaya abangan nalang natin."

MANILA, Philippines – Maricel Soriano has reportedly made peace with her two
maids who last year accused the actress of beating them up.
In his column for the Philippine Star, which was published on Tuesday,
entertainment editor Ricky Lo said, "Everything has been settled out of the
court."
A statement from the "aggrieved parties" sent to the newspaper through
Soriano's manager Shirley Kuan and Viva Entertainment Inc. boss Vic del Rosario
said the incident was "a mere misunderstanding caused by emotional outburst."
"The two parties have decided to make peace and put what happened behind
them," the statement read.
It can be recalled that in June last year, Soriano's two female household
workers Camille Acojedo, 18 and May Cachuela, 22, accused the actress of
physically and verbally abusing them, with one of them saying that she even
threatened to shoot her.
Acojedo and Cachuela then filed charges of physical injuries and grave
threats against the veteran actress.
Soriano has denied all the accusations made by her former housemaids.
According to the statement released by Philippine Star, "the two parties were
given a chance to explain their sides to each other," with the help of
broadcaster Mon Tulfo and ALE Partylist Rep. Catalina Bagasina.
Soriano, Acojedo and Cachuela also thanked Tulfo and Bagasina "for helping
sort out the mess," the statement read.
