PHNO-SP: ROACH SEES EASY PACQUIAO VICTORY / BRADLEY PREDICTS STORIED RIVALRY

ROACH SEES EASY PACQUIAO VICTORY / BRADLEY PREDICTS STORIED
RIVALRY

LOS
ANGELES, JUNE 1, 2012 (BULLETIN)
By NICK GIONGCO - No rematch.
Lead trainer Freddie Roach said there's no way Manny Pacquiao is going to
lose to Tim Bradley next week in Las Vegas.
"When people get knocked out, there shouldn't be a rematch," Roach told a
handful of Manila-based scribes during Pacquiao's open workout on Wednesday
afternoon at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood.
Roach dismissed the stunt that Bradley and Top Rank pulled off on the day
before when the fighter posed beside a fight poster announcing a Nov. 10 rematch
between him and Pacquiao.
A rematch clause was included in the fight contract that Bradley signed and
the unbeaten puncher believes that exactly is going to happen.
Other materials, such as credential IDs and similar stuff, were distributed
during the gimmick that was staged just before Bradley did his own open training
session at the Fortune Gym on Sunset Boulevard.
"Why do they waste money on those fliers?" asked Roach, who sees the Filipino
fighter reverting back to his old, deadly self come fight night at the MGM
Grand.
"Manny is in a very good place. We have a big gameplan and we know how to
handle this guy."
Roach believes Bradley doesn't have any other option but to meet Pacquiao
head on even if he starts feeling Pacquiao's paralyzing power.
"(Assistant trainer) Buboy (Fernandez) feels that Bradley will start to run
once he feels Manny's power but I disagree. I think he doesn't know how to run
and he will be aggressive all night long and Manny's going to eat him up once he
comes forward."
Still, Roach thinks that the end will come a bit later in the fight and not
in the early rounds.
"It could be (a short fight) but he is a durable tough guy. It will be fun to
watch."
Nevertheless, Bradley has visions of grandeur and is convinced that he is not
hallucinating.

LOS ANGELES — Tim Bradley believes his June 9 faceoff with Manny Pacquiao has
the makings of a storied rivalry that is reminiscent of the Filipino's glove
affair with Erik Morales, Marco Antonio Barrera and Juan Manuel Marquez.
Opening his workout for the second time in less than a week, the undefeated
American challenger gamely posed for pictures beside a poster meant to promote
their Nov. 10 rematch, a sign that Bradley is certain of pulling off a mighty
upset next week at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Of course, Top Rank has a hand in the topnotch publicity gimmick although it
is clearly stated in the contract that Bradley signed that Pacquiao is
guaranteed a rematch in the event he loses.
Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum told the Bulletin over the weekend that he has
penciled Nov. 10 as the date in case Bradley wins over Pacquiao, giving the Top
Rank stalwart the chance to exact payback.
Assuming Bradley wins and Pacquiao avenges it, there will surely be a rubber
match.
While Bradley is entertaining thoughts of engaging in a series of fights,
Pacquiao's camp is determined to just get the job done with Bradley and move on
towards a Floyd Mayweather fight.
A lot of ringsiders are not giving Bradley much of a chance against Pacquiao.

"There is no reason for Manny not to knock Bradley out," said former two-time
champion Gerry Peñalosa, who is here to support his bosom buddy.
Peñalosa said "Bradley's style is perfect" for Pacquiao, making it very easy
for Pacquiao to connect his heaviest shots.
