Dolphy was admitted to the Makati Medical Center early Saturday morning, the
veteran actor's right-hand man Rene Pascual confirmed to Yahoo! News.
While netizens on Thursday expressed concern over his ailing condition,
Dolphy's son Eric Quizon, in an image post tweeted by the Comedy King's
long-time partner Zsa Zsa Padilla, said his father's "vitals are all in order,"
but added that he is still under intensive care.
"My Dad was sent to the hospital last Saturday because of pneumonia. This
made him weak because of his chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). They
had to attach a respirator in order to help him breathe.
"Currently, his vitals are all in order and he is responding to treatment
very well. However, he is still under close observation and round-the-clock
intensive care to make sure he recovers well," Eric said.
The actor also thanked Dolphy's followers who continue to pray for his
well-being.
"On behalf of our family, thank you for your love and prayers," Eric said.
Dolphy, who will turn 85 on July 25, has been struggling with a faltering
immune system, Padilla confirmed in February.
In April, the Comedy King in a taped message thanked the public, especially
his fans, for continuing to pray for his recovery.

"Mababait naman 'yung mga anak niya (Dolphy) and we're always meeting,
actually. We meet all the time and we talk," she said.
Padilla added her home is always open to any of Dolphy's children who wish to
see their dad.
"Lahat naman sila concerned sa daddy nila, eh, tsaka sinabi ko naman talaga
ang home namin open [to them]. Actually, dalawa ang bunk bed sa tabi ng kanyang
bed, so kung meron man siyang anak from abroad o from dito lang na gustong
dumalaw can stay overnight," she said.
Even though she and Dolphy never got married, she said she never felt
uncomfortable toward Dolphy's children.
"I really love them and I really feel part of their family talaga. Sa tagal
na rin siguro ng pinagsamahan namin ni Dolphy, kahit hindi kami kasal
nararamdaman ko talaga na parang mga anak ko na rin sila," she said.
Meanwhile, Padilla admitted she is still hoping that Dolphy could be a
National Artist.
"Mayroon namang proseso [na sinusunod]. Katulad ng two years ago, naghihintay
naman kami ma-nominate siya but he did not make the cut 'di ba? So sa ngayon
talaga anybody can be nominated. So magdadasal na lang kami na sana naman
mabigyan siya. Pero kung hindi siya mabigyan, wala kaming magagawa," she
said.
