MANILA,
NOVEMBER 4, 2011 (STAR)
- Sen. Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr. took custody of his half-sister, Ma.Ramona
Bautista, from the Las Piñas police two hours after the Oct. 29 murder of actor
Ram Revilla (Ramgen Jose Bautista in real life), a police report said yesterday.
Police Chief Inspector Eduardo Andrade Bajado of the Las Piñas City police
investigation and detective management division said the senator picked up
Ramona from the police station for a medical check-up at the Parañaque Hospital.
Police sources said the senator arrived at the Las Piñas police station with
a television crew.
The senator earlier called for a reinvestigation of the case, saying it must
be ensured that probers talk to the right witnesses and present the right
evidence.
He said it is a serious accusation that a brother and sister are behind the
murder of their own brother.
Parañaque police stands by its findings
The Parañaque City police, however, said it is standing firm on its findings
that Ramgen's two younger siblings may be involved in the actor's killing.
"We were very careful and thorough during the investigation. We have been
very objective," said city police chief Senior Superintendent Billy Beltran.
Beltran added that investigators did not expect that witnesses will come out
to implicate Ramona and Ramon Joseph.
The murder charge against Ramona, 20, and Ramon Joseph, 18, were filed before
the city prosecutor's office on Tuesday.
Also charged were gunmen Michael Altea, Roy Francisco Tolisora, Glaiza Vista,
Norwin de la Cruz, and a certain Bryan. The five are accused of helping the two
younger siblings plan and execute the crime.
The seven suspects were also charged with frustrated murder for hurting
Ramgen's girlfriend Janelle Manahan.
Ramon Joseph, Altea and Tolisora are now under police custody, while the four
remain at large.
Beltran said they can only arrest the four once the court issues an arrest
warrant.
Ramona claimed her brother Ramgen was killed by a gunman wearing a Halloween
mask and that she was kidnapped by his attacker and left at a mall along the
Zapote-Alabang road in Las Piñas.
However, police investigators found out that the kidnapping was a hoax and
was part of a cover up.
The decision on whether to elevate to the court the murder case filed by
policemen against the suspects "may be out next week," city prosecutor
Amerhassan Paudac said.
"This is an inquest case, so it will not take long. It may be out next week,"
Paudac said.
Ramgen buried
Ramgen was buried yesterday at the Revilla Mausoleum at the Angelus Eternal
Garden in Toclong, Imus after a Mass held at around 3 p.m.
Breaking her silence, Ramgen's mother, Genelyn Magsaysay, expressed her
disappointment with the police investigation, which linked two of her children,
Ramon Joseph Bautista and Ramona Bautista, to the murder.
Ramon Joseph, who was arrested on Monday, was tagged as the mastermind of the
crime.

MALAYA COMMENTARY
The amazing Ramon Revilla Sr. Ellen Tordesillas
'It
must have been a shock for the senator to know that his incentive would bag his
half-brother and sister.'
FORMER actor and senator Ramon Revilla, Jr. is truly an amazing person.
News reports about the quarrel over the P1 million family monthly allowance
from the padre de familia as the motive behind the Oct. 28 murder of 23-year old
Ramgen Jose Bautista made me more in awe of the 84-year old Revilla Sr, Jose
Acuña Bautista in real life.
Results of police investigation, which the Revilla family finds
"unbelievable," indicate that Ramgen was murdered by killers hired by his
18-year-old brother, Ramon Jose, with his 22-year-old sister Ramona as
accomplice.
The police said their information came from Ramgen's girlfriend, Janelle
Manahan, who was also shot in the face and is still in critical condition in the
hospital and from the hired killers who were arrested two days after Sen. Ramon
"Bong" Revilla (Jose Marie Mortel Bautista in real life) put up a P500,000
reward for the arrest of the killers.
It must have been a shock for the senator to know that his incentive would
bag his half-brother and sister.
Reports
said the P1 million monthly allowance from the patriarch of the Revilla clan was
for his nine children with former starlet Genelyn Magsaysay. Genelyn, reports
said, has a separate allowance.
It was Ramgen, being the eldest, reports also said, who handled the P1
million allowance.
A sidebar to the Ramgen murder story was an item about the prolificacy of
Revilla Sr.
Former student activist Portia Ilagan, who is now spokesperson for Sen. Bong
Revilla, said the old man Revilla has 72 children with 16 different women.
Lolit Solis, talent manager of Bong Revilla, who was also an actor before he
became a senator, was quoted in newspapers as having said, "He (Revilla Sr) does
not neglect his children. He takes care of all of them."
If that is so, he must be rolling in money. Imagine if you multiply the P1
million monthly allowance that he gives to one "family" by 16, that P16 million
a month. It's not a one-shot gift. It's a monthly subsidy!
Isn't he amazing?
Business students should study how Revilla Sr. has parlayed a showbiz career
to politics to financial bonanza.
His biodata showed that he has a degree in Commerce from Far Eastern
University. He must have learned something in FEU that he used to build a
financial empire with funds deep enough to spend at least P16 million monthly
just for allowances of his children.
In politics, whoever is in Malacañang can always rely on Revilla's support.
He supported Fidel Ramos' priority bills. Same thing with Joseph Estrada and
Gloria Arroyo.
In his 12-years as senator, Revilla Sr acquired a franchise on the very
lucrative public works committee which he has passed on to his son, Bong.
After he retired from the Senate, Gloria Arroyo appointed him chairman of the
Public Estates Authority, an agency that serves as clearing house of all
reclamation projects. President Aquino retained him for that position.
I called up PEA yesterday and I was told that Revilla Sr., who suffered a
stroke and underwent angioplasty in Nov. 2008, resigned as its chairman last
month.
