NOW KRIS WANTS TO DISTANCE HERSELF FROM JUNJUN BINAY
MANILA, JULY 22, 2011 (BULLETIN) By ALEX VALENTIN BROSAS - Kris Aquino admitted having gone 'overly sensitive' about Mayor Binay's comment on marriage since 'marami din kaming pinagdadaanan ni James (Yap)'
After having been rumored to have something romantic going on between them, TV host Kris Aquino now plans to distance herself from Makati Mayor Junjun Binay.
"Para matapos na nga lang ito, keep a distance na lang ako at ano. Para wala na lang. Para there's no reason for me to get hurt anymore," Kris explained on "Showbiz News Ngayon," July 19, after feeling that Mayor Binay's recently published comments about marriage alluded to her.
In the July 16 issue of Philippines Star, Millet Mananquil, who chanced upon the Makati mayor during the 40th wedding anniversary celebration and renewal of vows of Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago and Jun Santiago, asked him about the possibility of getting married again. Mayor Binay's reply was, "Why do people marry? Because of lack of knowledge... Why do people separate? Because of lack of experience... Why do people remarry? Because of loss of memory."
In a statement flashed on "SNN," as issued by Mayor Binay's spokesperson Joey Salgado, the latter noted: "The portion quoted by the columnist was just an aside. The mayor said those words in jest. He did not intend to offend anyone, especially Kris. Mayor Jun and Kris talked last night. He apologized.
"Mayor Jun Binay told the Star columnist that he has no immediate plans or remarrying because his wife, whom he loved dearly, had just passed away. He also needs to take care of his kids and has a city to manage as a mayor."
The "Kris TV" host, meanwhile, also shared that "nagkausap na kami ni Mayor Jun."
"Okay naman," she said of the talk, but added, "Siguro hindi maaalis sa akin na (sumama ang loob) kasi 'yung pagkadugtong kasi nu'ng article (was) pertaining to me. Pa-joke niyang sinabi doon sa dulo 'yung tungkol doon sa paghihiwalay. Parang ako 'yung natamaan do'n."
She admitted that she has become "overly sensitive" about the issue since "marami din kaming pinagdadaanan ni James (Yap)" and "dahil doon sa personal na sitwasyon ko."
Kris likewise explained her side, touching on the rumors that had followed them before.
"Kung nagde-date kami? Klarong sinabi niya na magkaibigan kami. Feeling ko lang hindi mo ginagano'n ang kaibigan mo."
She also related feeling bad about the comment. "Nalungkot talaga ako kasi okay 'yung pagsasama namin, okay 'yung pagiging magkaibigan namin. Pero nga dahil nalalagyan ng kulay, ang hirap maging friend."
Before the "SNN" interview, Kris already took to Twitter her reaction about Mayor Binay's comment, although said tweets were already removed from Kris' account as reported by abs-cbnNews.com.
"There's a quote attributed to him [Binay] about marriage, separation & remarrying. I know he tried to be witty, but it offended me," she reportedly posted.
She also took her disappointment to Twitter, posting, "I thought jun & I were friends but after what I read I've come to the conclusion a gentleman doesn't really say stuff like that especially when it can be read as 'patama' to his friend."
