PHNO-SB: AGA'S PROJECT WITH ANGEL UNLIKE HIS PAST MOVIES

AGA'S PROJECT WITH ANGEL UNLIKE HIS PAST MOVIES

MANILA, APRIL 27, 2011 (MALAYA) ETHEL RAMOS ('I'm very positive that people will like it. – Aga Muhlach')

FOR one who is nearly two months pregnant, Regine Velasquez, according to friends who have seen her, looks heavy. Nonetheless, she seems good and happy, not to say overwhelmed at the prospect of becoming a mother soon.

She and husband of four months, Ogie Alcasid, were together for her 41st birthday last April 22, Good Friday. Ogie prepared seafoods which they shared for lunch and dinner.

It's likely, according to Regine's friends, that she will take bed rest as ordered by her doctors. This is for her to keep the baby safe.

She is happy to know that the series, "I Heart You, Pare," which she had to leave behind because of her delicate condition, is doing well in the ratings. Iza Calzado took over Regine's role.

What worries Regine, they say, is the further delay in the completion of the movie she is doing with Aga Muhlach. She heard, after all, that in order to finish the movie, the director, Joyce Bernal, reduced the supposed six shooting days they still have to do to three.

Viva Films, which is producing the movie, would have wanted it shown this year.

Meantime, Aga is now dubbing for his other movie, "In the Name of Love," which pairs him with Angel Locsin for the first time.

Produced by Star Cinema, it also stars Jake Cuenca and is directed by Olive Lamasan.

"We are finally showing the movie on May 11," said Aga. "I'm very positive that people will like it."

"Kaming lahat na involved sa pelikula are really excited after seeing the rushes.

"It isn't the same compared to my past movies, na, awa ng Diyos, kumita na at nanalo pa ng award."

Former beauty queen and actress Azenith Briones almost did a comeback in the remake of "Temptation Island," directed by Chris Martinez. The original, directed by the late Joey Gosiengfiao, had Azenith as one of its leads.

With her, Azenith remembers, were fellow beauty queen Jennifer Cortez and Deborah Suh. In a featured role was the late Alfie Anido, who was a discovery of the late Direk Joey.

"How time flies, 'di ba?" said Azenith. "Almost 30 years na nang ma-release ang pelikulang ito. I have good memories of the movie. Kasi, ginawa namin ito sa isang island, where we stayed for more than a month.

"It was an isolated place. E ang bata pa namin noon kaya miss na miss namin ang mga gimmicks."

Azenith revealed she was offered a role in the "Temptation Island" remake. But Regal Entertainment, which co-produces the movie with GMA Films, could not agree on the talent fee. She asked for P30,000 per shooting day. They wanted to pay her P20,000.

It was her husband who advised her not to accept the movie anymore.

"I'm glad when I learned that Marian (Rivera) will play the role formerly assigned to me. Kasi ngayon ko lang na-realize na ako pala ang pinaka bida sa first 'Temptation Island,' kung ganun," Azenith said.

"Temptation Island," the remake, also stars Heart Evangelista, Lovie Poe, Soleen Heussaff and Rufa Mae Quinto.

Aiko Melendez said she is down to 160 pounds. She refuses to reveal, though, how much she used to weigh.

"I do workouts, avoid carbo and engage in sports which I know will help me lose weight," she related.

She has to lose weight, according to Aiko, in preparation for her TV comeback in the upcoming series, "Atom," a fantasy-adventure which will topbill child actor Bugoy Cariño.

"Jom (Jomari Yllana, her former husband) and I will play Bugoy's parents," related Aiko.

This is, of course, not the first time that Aiko and Jom are doing a project after calling it quits. They also played the parents of Ogie Alcasid in the movie "Yaya and Angelina: The Spoiled Brat Movie," with Michael V. playing the yaya.

"I always welcome the idea of working with Jom," stated Aiko. "It's the time kasi that Andrei (their kid) gets to see us together. Kaya alam kong bibisitahin niya kami sa taping."

Aiko has another child, daughter Marthena, with former husband Martin Jickain.

She just broke up with Bulacan Mayor Patrick Meneses, who friends thought she would marry.

Aiko now has Boy Abunda for her talent manager.
