Pilar Pilapil stable after alleged carjacking incident By ROWENA JOY A. SANCHEZ April 15, 2011, 3:05pm

MANILA, Philippines – Veteran actress Pilar Pilapil is now recuperating from the multiple stab wounds she sustained in an alleged "carjacking" incident in Marikina City last April 14.

A source of abs-cbnNEWS.com was quoted as saying, "Okay na siya (Pilapil) ngayon. Nagtamo siya ng seven stab wounds yata 'yon, pero okay na siya."

Initial reports stated that Pilapil, along with a companion identified as Rosel Rosalem, were on board a Kia vehicle and treading along Marikina Riverbanks when two unknown armed men supposedly abducted them at around 9:30 p.m., Thursday, as reported on April 15 by DZMM's Rod Izon via ANC.

In another report by GMA News TV also on Friday, the suspects are said to have been aboard a motorcycle.

The abs-cbnNEWS.com source, meanwhile, said that the armed men "stopped" and "commandeered" the vehicle that was being driven by Rosalem.

The 60-year-old former beauty queen was found covered in blood along Pedra Blanca in Barangay San Luis in Antipolo City at around 11:30 p.m., according to PO3 Rodel Druha of the Antipolo PNP (Philippine National Police) as reported on ANC. Apparently, she managed to seek help despite her stab wounds.

Pilapil was initially rushed to the Antipolo District Hospital, after which she was transferred to the Medical City in Pasig City, where the actress is currently recovering.

The events of the said attack came to the police's knowledge through the initial interrogation of two men who reportedly assisted Pilapil and took her to the hospital in Antipolo, C/Supt. Samuel Pagdilao of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) of PNP said in a phone interview with ANC.

The two, whom Pagdilao declined to identify, are currently under custody.

Pagdilao also clarified earlier reports of the alleged carjacking. "We have to be very careful until we have evidence to establish that fact so for now it's a general investigation," he said.

Pilapil has yet to be interviewed for the investigation, Pagdilao also said.

"It's also very important that we'll be able to interview Ms. Pilapil at the proper condition where she would be able to give us.… her testimony about what happened," said he.

The Marikina PNP is also carrying out a follow-up operation and investigation on the incident.

Pilapil's female companion, as well as the vehicle, remain missing as of this writing.
