LEA TOUCHED BY HER HUSBAND'S B-DAY SURPRISE PARTY
MANILA, MARCH 4, 2011 (MALAYA) PUZZLER: Two recent celebrity weddings have the same blueprint, according to some of those invited to both. Our source said both couples stretched their peso and didn't want to spend extra for it even if they wanted their weddings big and grand. In turn, they compromised by doing lots and lots of ex-deal agreements for almost every aspect of the preparations – accommodations for themselves (not the guests), flowers, cakes, giveaways, etc. For the first wedding, the source told us that they had to lose the first coordinator because she was not cooperative anymore with what they wanted. Our source said the coordinator resigned because she couldn't take the ex-deals anymore and has no more face to show to the suppliers she had committed to. She went without keeping it secret that the family got all the freebies when guests reserved and paid their accommodations for the wedding, which was ideally supposed to be shouldered by the couple. A relative of the bride, according to the source, would intercede and veto the preparations being made by the wedding coordinator when a "sponsor" came in.
The second celebrity wedding was held so far away, according to invited guests, because that was the only resort to allow ex-deal venue for the couple's vows. Never mind if the guests and sponsors were inconvenienced so much, the bride and groom still went for it because they were able to save precious pesos.
HINT: The first wedding was a much-awaited one not just by the couple but by their friends who knew of their love affair from a long time ago. The second wedding was a first of its kind for the groom, as well as for the bride. The groom was "reprimanded" by his mother during the ceremony.

We heard that Ai Ai Delas Alas will be following in the footsteps of Iza Calzado and become the next endorser of Flawless very soon.
Ai Ai, who had not endorsed any cosmetic clinic for a long time now, is said to have been eyed by Flawless for a long time, knowing that she perfectly suits the demographics of Flawless clients.
The offer, according to our source, had been received very well by the comedienne who is, to say the least, on top of her game at this time. Ai Ai had just come from a very successful solo concert at the Araneta Coliseum late last year, scored a Best Actress in the recent Metro Manila Film Festival, her movie "Ang Tanging Ina Mo: Last Na 'To" being a topgrosser in the 2010 MMFF, too; and now being on television again for her ABS-CBN's top-rating reality talent show "Pilipinas Got Talent." Soon, Ai Ai will also be starring in her very own soap opera, also on ABS-CBN.
We heard that Ai Ai had received an offer from TV5 last year and she seriously contemplated it. She felt that the network could do more for her in terms of shows.
But when ABS-CBN management got wind of the offer, the source told us that they wasted no time talking to Ai Ai and her manager Boy Abunda to keep her again. A wise move, we have to say, since Ai Ai scaled heights in her career once again since then, to prove that she still rules her department in showbiz.
Today, Ai Ai is a happy and contented artist inside the ABS-CBN compound. She says that her winning team, with director Wenn Deramas, will be coming up again with another movie, which will be even grander and funnier than the "Tanging Ina" series.

Rhian Ramos should be careful about personal decisions because they do have implications on her professional career.
According to some advertising officers, her marketability becomes a bit sullen whenever her name comes side by side with that of her rumored boyfriend Mo Twister.
"Some of those advertisers working with Rhian have sent out feelers to GMA Artist Center (GMAAC) that the young lady's association on print and television (and the net) with the controversial Mo Twister is not doing her any favor. They said to keep it low and they prefer for it not to be talked about," the source told us.
How GMAAC is going to manage that and give the advertisers what they want still remains to be seen.
In the meantime, reports of late dinners in Makati, brief trips to Bangkok, a planned trip to Africa, trips in Paris – are not at all helping Rhian satisfy her advertisers' want for a more sober and wholesome image.
We don't want to be in Rhian's shoes at this time.

When Lea Salonga got the surprise of her life a day before she turned 40 last Feb. 21, she was gifted a complete beginner's golf set from her husband Rob Chien.
Lea was so touched by her husband's effort to make her 40th birthday so special. Her friends, mostly from theater, were gathered at the Palms Country Club in Alabang for the surprise party.
Her brother Gerard was a co-conspirator. He told Lea he was not available for her birthday dinner on Feb. 22 that's why they had to have dinner that night. The unsuspecting Lea said yes and got a pleasant surprise seeing her friends, old and new, converging for her special occasion. Name-droppables at the party were Aga Muhlach, Charlene Gonzales, Freddie Santos, Bobby Garcia, Menchu Yulo, Chari Arespacochaga, Richard Poon, Calvin Millado, among many others.
The golf set will help her master the sport that her husband loves so much and she can't wait to get started.
