KRIS AND DINGDONG EMBRACE 'FREEDOM'
MANILA, MARCH 4, 2011 (MALAYA) "What to you is freedom?" says Bench endorser Kris Aquino to fellow Bench face Dingdong Dantes. "It's the freedom to do what you want responsibly," he answers.
"To see the sun without fearing the moon" and "to believe in happy ever after" were the wishes of Kris, who cherishes moments of hope and lightheartedness. Amid her busy schedule as a mother, host and actress, Kris values the gift of free time to spend with her children, Joshua and James, or even to be able to sip a cup of coffee, while in quiet introspection. Being a well-read individual, Kris also values the uncanny sense of peace she finds in having the privilege to enjoy her own burgeoning career, while still allowing herself to indulge in her passion for reading and learning. But above all, there is the dream of the freedom to love again, as her own quotes on freedom hint at.
On the other hand, Dingdong values the freedom to travel while keeping up a good career – that is, "to be lost, but never gone." He also wishes "to be happy in the moment" – a freedom from worries that the young actor cherishes. To him, freedom carries with it a possibility for adventure. Once one has peace of mind, he can engage in all manner of challenges. "A strong mind is parallel to a strong body… When you are alone, one with yourself – thinking, planning, anticipating – you can gear yourself to enter tomorrow's next battle, free from fear, free from reservations, and truly liberated in spirit."
Distilling the concept of freedom from the political to the personal, these thoughts echo the idea behind the endorsers' bid for Bench's Freedom Scents which were launched just in time for the 25th anniversary of the EDSA Revolution, February 25, at the Trinoma Activity Center.
Directed by Ariel Lozada and styled by Noel Manapat, the program featured models clad in shirts showcasing more personal conceptions of freedom, as they spritzed the light and fresh eau de toilette and body sprays into the air.
Just as Freedom Scents empower wearers with its light and fresh scent, true freedom empowers the bearer to trust his or her own tastes and actualize one's innermost aspirations.
There's the Freedom Eau de Toilette (P398, 100 ml) – a unisex scent with a fruity oriental profile that ends in a powdery finish. For an even lighter formulation, there are also woodsy body spray versions (P128, 100 ml), namely Freedom 1, a floral and fruity version; Freedom 2, an amber-based spray; and Freedom 3, a unisex scent with stronger Oriental tones. In keeping with the simple and fundamental feel, all scents come in iconic yellow bottles, to signify the color of freedom for Filipinos, owing to its use in the nation's peaceful revolution in 1986. What's more, the bottles have minimalist labels that communicate their clean fresh aura –a mark that perhaps carries on to its wearers, as well.
