MANILA, JANUARY 6, 2011 (MALAYA) FROM doing awesome stunts in the action series "Joaquin Bordado," Kylie Nicole Padilla is set to soar in the drama department in GMA Network's "Dwarfina."
The new show is a fulfillment of Kylie's goal to broaden horizons and showcase her acting. In real life, she is a younger sister to Queenie and Zhen, and an older sister to brother Ali. "I've never had an older brother so having Dennis as a 'Kuya' on TV will be something new for me. I do have male cousins who are older than me. I see them when we have celebrations and reunions in the family. Sila ang tinuturing kong mga kuya. Pero alam ko iba pa rin ang may ka-bonding na kuya on a regular basis," says Kylie, who had just arrived from Australia where she spent the Yuletide holidays.
She adds, "So I am looking forward to working with Kuya Dennis. I am excited to learn from him because he is a multi-awarded actor."
Kylie signed an exclusive contract with GMA, of which "Dwarfina" is the second of a series of shows to be assigned to her. At present, she is a mainstay of "Party Pilipinas." After the young lady learned from manager Betchay Vidanes that she will be a Kapuso, Kylie volunteered to undergo further training and preparation. She went through extensive personality workshops at John Robert Powers. She also took acting lessons at ABS-CBN. To be more physically fit for the marathon taping schedules, she intensified her cardio workouts at the Shangri-La Edsa Plaza gym.
Because she wants to be a well-rounded performer, Kylie is taking voice lessons. She takes inspiration from Aussie stars Kylie Minogue and Nicole Kidman who can sing, dance and act. (Kylie is named after the said stars).
The finishing touch to this remarkable star turn? Celebrity Jing Monis cut Kylie's hair to a more flattering 'do and also colored it to emphasize her very striking mestiza features.
The role in "Dwarfina" comes at a very opportune time because Kylie is turning 18 on Jan. 17. "Noong unang nakita ako ng mga tao sa 'Joaquin Bordado,' neneng-nene pa ako n'on!" Kylie says with a laugh. "Now, people will see me more grown-up."
Her ultimate dream is to be the first in her generation of actresses to specialize in both action and drama. "Gusto ko talaga ng kakaibang image," she declares. She wowed viewers with her abilities in Muay Thai, gymnastics and kendo (Japanese sword fighting). Very soon, Kylie Nicole Padilla will also touch hearts via her special role in "Dwarfina."
