THE BEST GATHER FOR 'ROSARIO'
MANILA, DECEMBER 18, 2010 (MALAYA) THE epic movie "Rosario," entry of Cinemabuhay to the 36th Metro Manila Film Festival, gathers the best and most competent actors in the film directed by Albert Martinez, who himself is a much-awarded actor.
"Rosario" features Jennylyn Mercado in her most important and most daring role to date. Jennylyn won the People's Choice Best Actress Award at the MMFF several years back for the movie "Blue Moon." This early, predictions are rife that Jennylyn is a strong contender for the best actress award come awards night on Dec. 26.
Her leading men are also among the best – Yul Servo, Dennis Trillo and Sid Lucero – as they themselves are award-winning actors and architects of some of the most interesting portrayals on the big screen.
Yul won the best actor award – twice – at the elite Brussels International Film Festival and at the Cinemanila International Film Festival. He also won the Best Actor award at the Manila Film Festival and the Star Awards.
Dennis is a best supporting actor winner for "Aishite Imasu 1941: Mahal Kita," also an entry at the Metro Manila Film Festival. This triumph set the tone for Dennis' grandslam win as best supporting actor, winning all awards from the various awards-giving bodies. His most recent win was as Best Supporting Actor at the Golden Screen Awards for "Mano Po 6," also an MMFF entry.
Sid is a best actor winner from the Urian Awards, having won for the movie "Selda." He also won as best supporting actor at the Thessaloniki International Film Festival in Greece (in a tie with Emilio Garcia) also for "Selda." His first acting award was for the movie "Donsol" where he garnered Breakthrough Performance by an Actor from the Golden Screen.
Also in the cast of this big-budget epic are acting icons Phillip Salvador, Ricky Davao, Eula Valdez and Comedy King Dolphy, who plays the narrator Jesus. Top PLDT honcho Manny V. Pangilinan personally talked to Dolphy so that the acting legend would accept the role in the film. MVP wanted no less than the Comedy King for the said important role.
Isabel Oli and Empress Schuck, two of the more interesting young performers in the industry today, are also proud for having vital roles in the movie.
No one would ever doubt that the rest of the cast members who did cameo and other interesting parts in the movie are all acting great and big stars in their own right. Consider this line up: Liza Lorena, Ara Mina, Rita Avila, Tonton Gutierrez, Chanda Romero, Ronaldo Valdez, Lito Pimentel, Jaime Fabregas, Lester Lansang, Desiree del Valle, Lloyd Samartino, Ron Morales, Precious Lara Quigaman, Jamie Rivera, Joy Ortega, Miki Hahn, Gaby de la Merced, Liezl Martinez, Bert Martinez, Dino Guevarra, Bing Loyzaga and Chinggoy Alonzo.
