MANILA, OCTOBER 8, 2012 (PHILSTAR) FUNFARE By Ricardo F. Lo - The
Comelec office in Intramuros, Manila, was in a festive mood, thanks to the
supporters of candidates who were filing their COCs (Certificates Of Candidacy).

You could easily identify the supporters by the color of their
T-shirts (emblazoned with the names of their bosses) or from their cheers. Were
there fireworks, too, and brass bands?

Another Lifetime Achievement Award for Jose Mari Chan (photo at

For his work of a lifetime, Jose Mari Chan was again recently given a
Lifetime Achievement Award, this time by the Star Awards for Music of the PMPC
(Philippine Movie Press Club), the same honor he has received from PARI (the
Philippine Association of the Recording Industry), KATHA and the Antonio C.
Barreiro Foundation.
Said Joe, "At the start of each day, every day, I give thanks to the Lord,
the Giver of Life, The Source of all Talents. A lifetime achievement, in any
endeavor, is never reached single-handedly. Always it's with the help of many
people along the way. That's why I thank my grade school, high school and
college teachers who helped mold me into who I am today. I thank my parents, the
first to teach me the love for music; all the musicians, arrangers and back-up
singers who make me sound good in my recordings and concerts; and, most of all,
I thank Mary Ann, my wife and partner of 42 years, who's been my girl, my woman
and my best friend."
Also this year, Joe's It's Complicated concert with The CompanY at the SMX
won Concert of the Year.
"Credit should go mainly to our producers Perlita Uy and Carmela Honrado of
Beginnings at Twenty Plus," added Joe. "After 45 years of concertizing, it's my
first concert to win such an award, believe it or not. Gold, Platinum and
Diamond Records Awards, yes, but not Concert of the Year. And what an honor it
is to be in the company of such performers as Martin Nievera, Gary Valenciano,
Pops Fernandez and Regine Velasquez."
At the moment, Joe is working on his new Christmas album set for release end
of this month, his first such album after the multi-awarded Christmas in Our
Hearts which is the biggest-selling (Double Diamond) local Christmas album of
all time, marking its 22nd anniversary this year.

Ramona."
There are, yes, 22 songs in the album.
"I'm putting all my heart into this project as a gift to all the music lovers
who have been singing along to my songs these past 45 years of my career as a
recording artist," said Joe.
