MANILA, AUGUST 30, 2012 (BULLETIN) By JOJO P. PANALIGAN - The
movie-oke "I Do Bidoo, Bidoo: Heto nAPO Sila" seems poised to live up to the
hype surrounding its release by not only getting an "A" rating from the Cinema
Evaluation Board (CEB) a few days ago, but by garnering favorable reviews from
movie critics.
Note that any film with such a rating is entitled to a 100 percent rebate on
its amusement tax aside from being put by the Film Academy of the Philippines
(FAP) on the list of films they consider in the Best Foreign Language Film
category that are sent to the Academy Awards.

One of the print ads for the film shows some of local movie critics'
assessment of the film. They herald "I Do Bidoo Bidoo" as "an endearing musical
comedy" that's "highly entertaining, uplifting, affecting and contagious."
Another raved that the music of the APO Hiking Society that's featured in the
film "rocks." Still another went as far as to say that it's the "Best Picture Of
The Year."
According to a release, the movie shines in that it is able to make the
well-loved hits of the legendary group as integral to the storytelling as the
spoken lines. In "I Do Bidoo," APO songs such as "Mahirap Magmahal Ng Syota Ng
Iba," "Blue Jeans," "Awit Ng Barkada," "Panalangin," "Nakapagtataka," among
others, are so in context that it reaches a point when viewers willingly step
into the world it offers.
It took director and scriptwriter Chris Martinez months to decide on which
APO song goes in the film resulting to well thought out assignments. Every
character in the film has a special song that not only amplifies a scene but
defines the personality of those involved.
The story of "I Do Bidoo" is about two young sweethearts from different
backgrounds whose impending marriage throw their respective family off-kilter
and, in the process, put their love for each other to the test. The cast is
composed of Gary Valenciano and Zsa Zsa Padilla (as the wealthy Fuentebellas);
Ogie Alcasid and Eugene Domingo (as the not-so-wealthy Polotans); Jaime
Fabregas; Sweet Plantado; Frenchie Dy; Neil Coleta; Kiray Celis; and Gerald
Pesigan.
Other APO songs featured in "I Do Bidoo, Bidoo: Heto nAPO Sila" are
"Pumapatak Na Naman Ang Ulan," "Syotang Pa-Class," "Salawikain," "Batang Bata,"
"Kaibigan," "Huwag Masanay Sa Pagmamahal," "Ewan," "Paano," "Di Na Natuto,"
"Pag-ibig" "Do Bidoo" and "Kabilugan Ng Buwan."
