Actress Ciara Sotto came to the defense of her father, Senator Vicente Sotto
III, who delivered his "turno on en contra" speech against the Reproductive
Health Bill before the Senate on Monday.

Twitter account, Ciara said her parents lost a child and no person who disagrees
with her dad's stand on the RH Bill issue could ever bring her brother back.
"My parents experienced losing a child. Bashers/haters can't change that
fact. Sana it won't happen to any of you," she said.
Ciara said her mother, actress Helen Gamboa, was traumatized by the tragedy
and wouldn't visit any nursery because of what happened.
The actress also expressed her dismay at netizens who sent her insulting
messages after Sotto's speech.
"[D]aming bastos sa Twitter grabe! Ang lilinis eh... Hiyang hiya naman ako sa
kalinisan nila! Kawawa naman daddy ko," she said.
On the other hand, Ciara retweeted Twitter posts who support her dad's stand
on the RH Bill. She also replied to some Twitter users and thanked them for
supporting her dad's advocacy.
Sotto, in his speech on Monday , said it is his personal mission to block the
passage of the RH Bill because his son died due to the side effects of
contraceptives.
The senator became emotional as he blamed contraceptives for the medical
condition of his son, Vincent Paul, who died five months after he was born in
1975.
He said his son died on August 13, 1975, exactly 37 years ago today.
Ciara accompanied her dad at the Senate today to show support.
Just like her father, Ciara said she could not believe that of all places,
she would shed tears at the Senate.

MANILA, Philippines – Sen. Vicente "Tito" Sotto III won praise from
Philippine bishops for speaking out against a Senate bill that would provide
contraceptives to Filipino families.
Archbishop Jose Palma, president of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the
Philippines (CBCP), and CBCP Episcopal Commission for Family and Life chairman
Bishop Gabriel Reyes said they admire Sotto for his "turno on en contra" speech
against the passage of the Reproductive Health (RH) Bill.
In his speech, Sotto blamed contraceptives for the death of his son 37 years
ago. He said his son was born with a weak heart, which a Makati Medical Center
doctor supposedly blamed on contraceptives taken by Sotto's wife.
Sen. Pia Cayetano sympathized with Sotto but said there is no evidence that
shows a link between contraceptive use and heart conditions of children. She
also noted that contraceptives are supposed to be used with doctors' advice, and
not just given out.
Bishop Reyes said the CBCP plans to set up guidelines for voters detailing
the good and bad qualities of candidates in the 2013 elections.
He said one quality of a good candidate would be a "pro-life" stand. However,
he said a candidate who is against the RH Bill but is a murderer should not be
voted into office.
The bishop questioned reports that said 90 percent of Filipinos support the
RH Bill when RH Bill supporters could not mount their own street rally.
Guests at the CBCP Forum agreed that upholding public morality is important.
The guests include former Manila Mayor Lito Atienza, former Senator Francisco
Tatad and Atty. Romulo Macalintal. -- Report by Zyann
