MANILA, JULY 9, 2012 (PHILSTAR) FUNFARE UPDATE By Ricardo F. Lo
- Curtain-raisers:
• After Precious Lara Quigaman shall have exchanged "I do's" with Marco
Alcaraz at a Christian wedding on Sunday, July 8, at Hacienda Isabella in
Indang, Cavite, she will make an "important announcement" during the reception
(same venue) that will surely only make their guests smile with approval. That
was the reaction when Ruffa Gutierrez and Charlene Gonzalez broke the same "good
news" at their own weddings years back, remember? (Clarification: Marco's mom is
Vilma, not Wilma, Alcaraz.)
• Many people, including members of Congress (The Upper House and The Lower
House), have been clamoring for the government to bestow upon Dolphy the
National Artist Award now that he's still around so he can enjoy and appreciate
it. Rules of giving the award don't have to be skirted since it would take a
long process. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Congress have the power to
declare somebody or an institution a National Treasure like it did Armida "Tita
Midz" Siguion-Reyna's iconic Aawitan Kita years ago? There's no stumbling block
or any legal impediment for Congress to expedite the process. Why doesn't Sen.
Manny Villar, the Dolphy champion, initiate it?
• Health tip from my friend Dr. Welson Yap who got the info from Japanese
scientific research: Fully-ripe banana with dark patches on yellow skin produces
a substance called TNF (Tumor Necrosis Factor) which has the ability to
combat abnormal cells; the more dark patches it has the higher will be its
immunity enhancement quality so the riper the banana the better the anti-cancer
quality. Yellow-skin bananas with dark spots are eight times more effective in
enhancing the property of white blood cells than green-skin bananas. Eat one to
two bananas a day to increase your immunity.

If former First Lady Imelda Marcos is an adjective, as in
"Imeldific," then Dr. Vicki Belo is a verb, as in "Belofy."
If you've been touched by Dr. Vicki (only she can touch your skin with
amazing effect), then you are "Belofied."
That's also the same verb used in describing Dr. Vicki's Mac App Store
launched on June 19 but is already such a big hit. Easy does it (just like
child's play): You can edit your photo according to the way you want to by
simply pushing the right buttons.
In short, you can make yourself look slimmer if you're fat or trim your nose
a bit if it's flat. Tilt your iPhone or iPad and, presto, you see a new you!

Among the stars who have "Belofied" themselves were Kris Aquino and Coco
Martin.
To download the Belofied app, type the word "Belofied" on the search bar in
the Mac App Store. The App is compatible with iPhone 4, iPhone 4s, iPod (fourth
generation), iPad 2 wi-fi, iPad wi-fi+3G, iPad (third generation) and iPad
wi-fi+4G. Requires iOs 5 or later.

Vicki Belo opens first clinic in US By Steve

GLENDALE, California – She is known as "Asia's Guru of Beauty" and
now Dr. Vicki Belo (photo) is taking on Hollywood.
Just recently, Belo held a star-studded grand opening for her new clinic in
Glendale, California.
The Glendale clinic is the first Belo clinic in the US which does
non-invasive procedures.
Belo has a home in Glendale and she is planning to work at the clinic when
she goes on her US vacations.
"They (people) always ask me when I'm coming to the States and 40% of our
foreign patients are from the West Coast," Belo said.
Singers Gary Valenciano and Martin Nievera, who just finished their joint
concert, said they and their wives often ask Belo for beauty tips.
"Not just with artists but everyone back home. She has created a name," said
Valenciano.
International composer David Foster also has good words for Belo and said she
will surely be a big hit in Hollywood.
"We love her work. We think she's a genius," Foster siad.
Belo was joined by boyfriend Hayden Kho at the grand opening. The two,
however, would not say if a wedding is in the works.
"Wala pa. Secret 'yan, secret, but we will let you know," said Kho.
Though the clinic has not formally opened yet, there is already a long
waiting list.
The clinic is already booked with consultations until the end of the
year.
VICTORIA G. BELO, M.D.
Dr. Vicki Belo, more popularly known as the "Ambassadress of Beauty" or
"Doctor to the Stars," is the medical director of the Belo Medical Group, which
serves its patients through nine clinics - eight in Metro Manila and one in
Cebu.
Many people sometimes wonder how they'd look if they have smaller
nose or fuller lips or more prominent cheekbones or slimmer waist or bigger
breast or, well, all of the above.

These days, the answer to such questions is right in the palm of their hands.

When the Belo Medical Group released in the Mac App Store last June 19, the
first and only FREE cosmetic surgery simulation mobile app for iPhone and iPad
in the Philippines, it became an instant hit.
Belofied is a fun, creative and convenient app that allows users to play
around with their features simply by using shrink, expand and mold buttons.
The app opens a world of possibilities, if not, moments of novel
entertainment--- especially to those who are raring to undergo cosmetic surgery
but would first want to have an idea of how they will look after procedure.

Now with the "Belofy Me" feature, one can even put to survey among family and
friends, the different combinations of planned enhancements as before and after
photos can be generated using the app.

No wonder that the Belofied app has become talk of the town. Just a week
after it was launched, the Belofied app immediately cornered the number one spot
of free iPhone app ranking under Medical Category in the Philippines.
It has also entered the top 20 of the Free Apps Overall category in the
Philippines with a bullet---and even 59th on the list of free iPhone Apps under
the Medical Category worldwide!

The app is so easy to use that it's almost like child's play: move, drag,
shape…just like that and one can already manipulate any image. A photo can be
edited in detailed manner, too, since the app has a "zoom" button. A tilt of
your iPhone or iPad in landscape mode gives a split-screen view of before and
after shots.

Not techie enough? No problem as the feature has a Help screen which can be
accessed with one click.

Aside from the "Belofy Me" feature, the Belofied app offers a list of all the
BELO services and products, as well as Belo Medical Group contact information
including its Facebook and Twitter accounts.

To download the Belofied app, type the word Belofied on the search bar in the
Mac App Store. The app is compatible with iPhone 4, iPhone 4s, iPod Touch (4th
generation), iPad 2 wi-fi, iPad 2 wi-fi + 3G, iPad (3rd generation) and iPad
wi-fi +4G. Requires iOs 5 or later.

Aside from the Belofied app, people can check out the newest product of Belo
Essentials, Beauty Deo. A hypoallergenic and dermatologist-tested deodorant that
whitens skin in just seven days! Beauty Deo also minimizes pores and prevents
redness, as well as soothes skin after shaving, waxing and plucking.
