MANILA, JULY
21, 2012 (ABS-CBN) Non-stop rains Friday
night triggered floods in several parts of Metro Manila.
According to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the
EDSA-Shaw tunnel was impassable to light vehicles at around 7 p.m. due to
13-inch-deep floodwaters.
Gutter-deep floods also hit the southbound lane of EDSA-Ortigas at around
7:30 p.m.
All roads in Brgy. San Antonio in Makati were also submerged in floods and
rendered not passable to all vehicles.
Makati Traffic officials said Malugay to Chino Roces, Gil Puyat to Filmore
and Batangas were also flooded.
In Manila, floods hit U.N Avenue, Pedro Gil, Osmeña-Quirino eastbound.
Luzon floods

Meanwhile, a river overflowed in Barangay Muntindilaw, Antipolo City Friday
morning, triggering flashfloods.
In Cainta, several houses were also submerged in flood waters.
Classes were cancelled, but the announcement came too late as students had
already left for school.
Classes at the elementary and high school levels were also cancelled in
Parañaque, Pateros, San Mateo, Rodriguez and Teresa in Rizal, and Bacoor in
Cavite.
In Bataan, classes were suspended at public elementary schools due to the
rains.
A meeting of the Provincial Risk Reduction Management Council was also called
with the rains expected to continue until the weekend.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council, meanwhile, continues
to monitor the situation and gives its assurance they will be ready to respond
of the rains the floods continues. -- With reports from Atom

Typhoon Ferdie Latest Update - PAGASA

In the
latest weather update of PAGASA issued at 5:00 p.m., 20 July 2012, the Active
Low Pressure Area (ALPA) east of Tuguegarao City has developed into a Tropical
Depression and was named "FERDIE". It is now moving towards Extreme Northern
Luzon.
At 4:00 p.m. today, the center of Tropical Depression "FERDIE" was estimated
based on satellite and surface data at 130 km east of Aparri, Cagayan (18.4°N,
123.0°E) with maximum winds of 55 kph near the center. It is forecast to move
west northwest at 13 kph, the weather bureau said.
Southwest Monsoon affecting Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao was also
observed by PAGASA.
Rainfall Warning Update
Moderate to heavy (2.0-15.0mm/hr) rains is expected to affect Metro Manila
area for the next 3 hours.
Flooding is possible in low-lying areas and those located near the river
channels.
