PHNO-SB: JESSICA SANCHEZ TALKS ABOUT FUTURE PLANS, SCHOOL

JESSICA SANCHEZ TALKS ABOUT FUTURE PLANS,
SCHOOL
MANILA, JUNE 11, 2012
(ABS-CBN) It's only been two weeks since she was named the
"American Idol" runner-up but Jessica Sanchez has already set her mind on what
she wants to achieve after the show.
"American Idol" runner-up Jessica Sanchez In an interview with Rolling Stone
last week, the 16-year-old said that the Jessica Sanchez people saw on "Idol" is
totally different from who she wants to be as an artist.
"I'm not a pop singer at all and I think that's why people got confused when
I sang my single because it was a straight pop single. I want to show everybody
that's not who I am," she said.
Sanchez said she turns into her alter ego whenever she's on stage and she
wants to be that person when she starts making her albums.
"I had this thing like an alter ego kind of, who I call BB Chez. It was kind
of ridiculous because in the beginning it was just a joke. It was just a name
that me and my friend came up with and it became this whole serious thing.
People actually thought it was an alter ego and it that's what it has become,"
she said.
"Me and BB, it's definitely two different people. I'm shy and timid and I
don't really talk much but when I get on stage I'm more confident in myself,"
she added.
Sanchez, however, said she does not regret a single thing she did on "Idol"
because it was a learning experience for her.
"My age doesn't mean anything. I've been working hard every since I was
little. I've been on shows before. It's all experience and I love it. It got me
to this point where I am now so I have no regrets," she said.
Pursue education
Meanwhile, despite her new-found fame, Sanchez said in a separate interview
that she is still decided in pursuing her education.
"I'm definitely gonna work on some college stuff as a back up but music is
pretty much my No. 1 priority next to family and I'm gonna be working on some
songs soon. I can't really say when but soon and I'm excited," she said.
Sanchez, however, revealed that she still doesn't know what school to go to.

"Not yet because I haven't really thought about anything but it will all come
in due time," she said.
Currently, Sanchez is back with her fellow "Idol" contestants as they started
rehearsing for their upcoming summer tour.
Sanchez is also set to perform the US national anthem during the
Pacquiao-Bradley fight on June 9 (June 10 in Manila).

"American Idol" runner-up Jessica Sanchez is both Filipina and
Mexican, lest her fans forget.
Following her stint on the world's most popular singing competition, Sanchez
has gained an enormous following comprised of Filipinos and Mexicans around the
world who take pride in having a shared heritage with the pint-sized
singing-sensation.
For the 16-year old, her mixed heritage is something she is proud of, no less
and no more than its halves.
Sanchez, whose mother Editha hails from Bataan and whose father is a Mexican
raised in Texas, said her upbrining gave equal value to both cultures.
"I'm proud of both of my heritages," she said in an interview with Fox News.
"There's never a time when I'm more one than the other. I grew up with both
[cultures]."
Asked if she plans to visit the respective homeland of her parents, Sanchez
said she hopes a stop in the Philippines and Mexico will be part of the upcoming
"Idol" tour.
"I've never been out of the country, so I would love to go. I hope they let
me in the tour," she said.
Jessica's plans
While Sanchez is assured of a packed work schedule in the coming months, the
Pinay singing pride said she acknowledges the possibility of being a "one-hit
wonder."
For this reason, she said she intends to continue her education, in spite of
her "Idol" career jumpstart.
"I could be a one hit wonder. I have to have a back-up plan," she said.
"[But] I've been running around doing press and getting ready for a few events.
I'm just trying to take it one step at a time."
Sanchez, who will perform at PBS National Memorial Day Concert on Sunday (May
27), last Wednesday (Thursday in Manila) finished second in the eleventh season
of "American Idol." Singer Phillip Phillips was declared champion after a
record-breaking 132 million votes cast.
