MANILA, Philippines - Star Cinema, the country's only Home of Wholesome
Entertainment, has given birth to today's most popular and most bankable love
teams. The Honor Roll is growing longer and longer: Piolo Pascual and Judy Ann
Santos; Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo (now her husband and leading man in
Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo and Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo); Jericho Rosales and Kristine
Hermosa; Aga Muhlach with, among others, Kristine Hermosa, Claudine Barretto,
Angelica Panganiban and Angel Locsin; John Lloyd Cruz with, among others, Bea
Alonzo, Toni Gonzaga and Sarah Geronimo; Sarah Geronimo and, among others,
Rayver Cruz and Gerald Anderson; Piolo Pascual and Angelica Panganiban in its
latest offering, Every Breath You Take (still showing nationwide) and many
others.
In its forthcoming offering, Born To Love You, Star Cinema is introducing yet
another love team — Coco Martin and Angelina Quinto — in a love story calculated
to pinch the heart of movie fans (kukurot sa puso ng mga manonood).
"It's part of the company's evolution," said Star Cinema supervising producer
Malou Santos. "We see to it that we meet the public's expectations by
introducing something new while giving them the same of what they have seen and
crave for more of it."
Directed by Jerome Chavez Pobocan from a story and screenplay by Rondel
Lindayag, Born To Love You is a movie made for Coco and Angeline, with
characters created for them to a T.
Coco plays a photographer who considers every click of his camera as a way to
make his future clear. Angeline plays a tourist guide whose encounter with every
tourist is her way of getting closer to finding the father she has never seen
and is said to be somewhere in Korea. What happens when these two souls who have
the same situation in life but pursuing opposite directions meet and fall in
love?
Because he's the more experienced in the industry, having successfully
graduated from indie to mainstream and winning awards along the way, Coco
inevitably acts not only as leading man but also as mentor to Angeline.
"I'm thankful that Coco is my leading man in my movie break," said Angeline
whose ticket to stardom was her finishing a champion of the ABS-CBN talent
search Star Power.
Touted to be following in the footsteps of Sarah Geronimo (herself a
talent-search winner recruited for the movies), Angeline said that she's happy
to have chosen the right role model.
Rodel Luis Nacianceno (born on November 1, 1981), better known by
his stage name, Coco Martin, is a critically acclaimed Gawad Urian
Award-winning Filipino actor.
He became famous for starring in many independent films, and was dubbed the
Prince of Philippine Independent Films.
He is also known for his portrayal of Ramon Lecumberri in the critically
acclaimed television series, Tayong Dalawa. Angeline Quinto (born November 26, 1989) is a Filipino singer and
actress, dubbed as the Pop Superstar and Queen of Theme Song was the first grand
winner of Star Power: Search For The Next Female Pop Superstar in 2011.
Angeline Quinto was born in Sampaloc, Manila. Her biological mother tried to
abort Angeline but her grandmother stopped it, and Angeline was raised by her
grandmother.
She participated in several singing competitions in her town, but lost most
of them. Despite her failures, her distance from her mother and abandonment by
her father for another family, she still pursued her dreams and continued to
compete in singing competitions. She would even sneak out of the house to join
competitions. Then came a night of a very special night where she won 3
different competitions in just one night. Her grand mother was so proud when she
won Php7,000 (US$165) and she even cooked a delicious dinner for her
grandmother.
Angeline Quinto has cited various artists as influences to her musical style.
She grew up listening to songs of Regine Velasquez and says she is the main
reason she does music.[3][4] Quinto credits Velasquez's singing and her song
"What Kind Of Fool Am I" as influencing her to begin practicing vocal "runs" as
a child, as well as helping her pursue a career as a musician. Quinto also cites
influences from American artists such as Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston and
Beyonce Knowles.
