UNFOUNDED
MANILA, APRIL 18, 2012 (BULLETIN) By ALEX VALENTIN BROSAS - The
break-up rumors between president Noynoy Aquino and Kapuso TV host Grace Lee
could not be true.
In a report on "24 Oras," April 16, host Pia Guanio said that the GMA News
department was able to reach out to Grace's manager Arnold Vegafria through
text. Arnold, it was said in the episode, denied reports that the president and
the TV host have broken up.
A GMA source, Pia averred, even reported that the two dated last Saturday in
a restaurant in Greenbelt, Makati City.
A report on Rappler, a news website, posted on April 16, said that P-Noy and
Grace have separated.
"We've confirmed it with three sources close to the President: he's broken up
with Grace Lee. The breakup happened just this April," the report said.
"This ends what initially looked like a serious relationship for the
country's most powerful leader. Only in March, a Palace staffer was telling us
about how the President seemed so 'happy' and 'always in a good mood' on account
of his special friendship with the Korean radio and TV personality," the report
added.
Meanwhile, abs-cbnnews.com, in its April 16 post, claimed that, "a Palace
source has denied that President Benigno Aquino III and Korean media personality
Grace Lee have broken-up following speculations online saying the two already
called it quits."
"Radio dzMM correspondent Junry Hidalgo said his source confirmed that Aquino
and Lee were together in Greenbelt 5 just last Saturday," the report added.
The news correspondent revealed that PNoy and Grace "had dinner at the Makati
Shangri-La Hotel where they both seemed happy."
It was also reported that the two were not able to see each other for about a
week because of the president's various activities, which involved dealing with
the "Scarborough Shoal standoff, the power crisis in Mindanao, the consecutive
oil price hikes and OFW woes."
Grace, seemingly exasperated over the baseless reports about her and the
president, tweeted, "I was just thinking the other day the media is eerily quiet
about my personal life lately. Before I can fully savor it, here we go again..."
Grace and president Aquino started dating since February, months after their
initial meeting in Cebu last year.
