PHNO-HT: WE ASKED, YOU ANSWERED: BEATING THE SUMMER HEAT

WE ASKED, YOU ANSWERED: BEATING THE SUMMER
HEAT

MANILA, APRIL 21, 2012 (ABS-CBN) According to the country's weather
bureau PAGASA, the temperature can only get hotter as the summer season peaks in
April and May.
While PAGASA has predicted temperatures for this week as high as 36 degrees
Celsius in Metro Manila and Tuguegarao City, weather forecaster Nikos Peñaranda
said on Monday that temperature in the country could reach up to 37 degrees
Celsius.

The sweltering heat is due to the ridge of a high pressure area, he said,
which will primarily affect Luzon.
The blistering summer heat has Filipinos scrambling for a way to keep cool,
from eating ice cream to plunging into different bodies of water.
ABS-CBNnews.com asked netizens on Twitter how they beat the heat. This is
what they said:

Original Title: Beat the summer heat!
Thanks to: Leon B. Dista Daranak Falls, Tanay, Rizal,
Philippines
Picture's Original Title: Playtime
Thanks to: John Javellana Laon-laan, Sampaloc, Manila,

The "Con Hielos." The "iced" treats in the Philippines
existed only after the Americans brought refrigeration and air-conditioning,
along with electricity. There is no way that ice existed in the country before
the Americans (unless you count the Ice Age), so there's no way that the
"halo-halo con hielo", "mais con hielo", "saging con hielo" and all the others
existed before the American Era.(Courtesy of PINOY WARRIOR
