LOSS TO ILOCOS FAMILY
TAGUDIN, ILOCOS
SUR, MARCH
9, 2012 (INQUIRER) A day before
she was found dead in a hotel in Singapore on March 4, Rezzilyn Lodia Vinegas
(photo) sent her family P10,000 as downpayment for a motorcycle.
"She called immediately [on March 3] to find out if we were able to have our
new motorcycle. She really cared for us," said Rezzilyn's brother, Emmanuel.
Rezzilyn and her boyfriend, Bangladesh national Mohammad Sumon Lutfar, were
found dead from stab wounds inside the Summer Hotel in Singapore on Sunday
night.
Rezzilyn's mother, Matilde, said on Thursday that the family wanted to see
the official police report that could explain the circumstances that led to her
daughter's death.
Matilde said the family was invited to the Department of Foreign Affairs'
regional consular office in San Fernando City, La Union, on Tuesday, where they
were informed about her daughter's death.
"I broke down as soon as we were told about her death," Matilde said.
She said the family had no premonition about the tragedy, having just spoken
to her daughter on Saturday.
Matilde said they had been introduced to Lutfar, and have had telephone
conversations with him before.
Rezzilyn had been working as a maid in Singapore for six years.
She left behind three children from a previous relationship. The children
have been placed under their father's custody and were receiving financial
support from Rezzilyn, her relatives here said. Leoncio

MANILA, Philippines - A 33-year-old Filipina maid and her Bangladeshi
boyfriend were found dead inside a hotel room in Singapore.
The website asione.com identified
the fatalities as Rezzilyn Lodia Vinegas and Mohammad Sumon Lutfar. The
Bangladeshi national is believed to be in his early 20's.
The couple's bloodied bodies were found inside the Summer Hotel along Geylang
Lorong 22 on Sunday night. Both had knife wounds on their bodies.
The website reported that the two began dating after meeting about six months
ago.
The hotel's receptionist said the Bangladeshi was a regular customer.
The two checked in the hotel past 6 p.m. The Bangladeshi had rented the room
for five hours.
It was the night receptionist who discovered the couple. He said he tried to
phone them past 11 p.m. to remind them to check out but no one answered. He then
went to the room and knocked but also got no response.
This prompted him to use the hotel's master key to open the door to the
couple's room.
There he saw the dead Filipina who was bloodied on the bed, while her
boyfriend was lying face up on the bathroom floor.
Nothing suspicious was heard by clients from nearby rooms.
