PNoy's INVITE / LIST OF TOP SENATORIABLES
SAN FERNANDO CITY, LA UNION, MARCH 27, 2012 (PHILSTAR) By Jun Elias – TRILLANES TO RUN
UNDER NOY SLATE IN 2013
Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV has confirmed that he accepted the
invitation of the administration party to be one of their 12 senatorial
candidates in next year's elections.
"I will remain independent even though I am a part of the administration's
senatorial ticket (in 2013 elections)," Trillanes said in an interview here
recently with The STAR when asked if he would join any political party in
seeking reelection.
A Pulse Asia survey conducted from Feb. 26 to March 9 showed Trillanes among
the top 10 potential winners in the 2013 midterm polls.
"I welcome the result of the survey but I am keeping my feet on the ground to
remain consistent with my accomplishments," he said.
The senator attended the recognition rites of students of the Don Mariano
Marcos Memorial State University here last Friday.
Trillanes was accompanied by former Air Force Captain Segundino Orfiano Jr.,
one of his fellow Magdalo, who hails from Patpata, Balaoan, La Union.
The former navy officer won the senatorial race in 2007 while in detention
for rebellion charges after he led Magdalo soldiers in staging a coup in an
attempt to oust then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
Meanwhile, Trillanes said the Senate impeachment court would decide on the
impeachment trial of Chief Justice Renato Corona before the Senate adjourns in
June.
He said the impeachment court would probably conduct hearings for three more
weeks before deciding on the fate of Corona.
