MANILA, Philippines - President Benigno Aquino III finally broke his silence
on the news that he is dating Korean television personality Grace Lee.
"We're seeing each other," Aquino told reporters in an ambush interview at
the 25th anniversary celebration of the Philippine Information Agency in Quezon
City on Wednesday.
He did not provide further details, citing his constitutional right to
privacy.
"I think I'll leave it at that," Aquino said.
The news was first shared by controversial radio host Mo Twister, who is
currently in the United States. He said on Twitter: "We are talking about Grace
Lee's date last night with President Aquino. #itsmorefuninthephilippines."
This after a certain Adrian Abella tweeted Mo Twister: "Just asked Grace Lee
if it's true that she had dinner with President Aquino. She said she did."
Asked about the supposed date last week, Presidential spokesperson Edwin
Lacierda said: "We do not comment on private matters of the President."
Lee, for her part, denied a newspaper report claiming that she admitted
dating Aquino. "I never said we dated. Nor did I say we are text mates. Nor that
he comes to visit me," she said on Twitter.
Aquino first met 29-year-old Lee last year during the inauguration of the
Korea Electric Power Corp. power plant in Cebu, where the latter was a co-host.
"Pati ang bisita nating si Miss Grace Lee, kala ko tuloy Pinay, eh. Hindi nga
pala, Korean. Pero pati 'yung mga Korean na dumarating talagang gwapa lahat.
Kailangan yatang buhayin ang Malacañang sa Sugbu. Baka dito na rin tayo
magkatuluyan," the President said in his speech during the event.
Aquino, 51, is said to be lucky during the Year of the Water Dragon,
especially in the love department.
"This year, he will have a love life if he is willing to get married... The
First Lady is coming out," Hong Kong-based feng shui master Joseph Chau Kam
Shing said early this month.
The bachelor President's past dates include celebrity stylist Liz Uy and
stockbroker Len Lopez. He has also been linked to Bais City Mayor Karen
Villanueva, Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, actress Iza Calzado and Sabrina Chua
of Singapore-based Channel News Asia.

Mulls using Cebu office to find life partner
CEBU, Philippines - President Aquino is considering using Malacañan
sa Sugbo in Cebu if only to meet a partner in life.
Aquino said that every time he visits the central Philippine island, he sees
more beautiful women, including Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia.
"Sa kada bisita nako dinhi sa Cebu, mas daghan gwapa, apil si Governor Gwen
(Mas dumarami ang magaganda dito sa Cebu, kasama na si Governor Gwen)," Aquno
said in his speech during the inauguration of the KEPCO-SPC Cebu Power Plant in
Bgy. Colon, Naga City, Cebu.
Korean TV personality in the Philippines Grace Lee also caught the
President's eye. Lee, wearing a traditional Korean costume, co-hosted the KEPCO
event.
"Kaya pag inimbita ho ako sa Cebu, hindi ho talaga mahirap maimbita rito.
Pati ang bisita nating si Miss Grace Lee, kala ko tuloy Pinay e. Hindi nga pala,
Korean. Pero pati yung mga Korean na dumarating talagang gwapa lahat. Kailangan
yatang buhayin ang Malacanang [sa] Sugbu. Baka dito na rin tayo magkatuluyan,"
he said.

MANILA, Philippines -- South Korean media are also abuzz with news of
President Benigno Aquino III seeing Korean TV host and radio disc jockey Grace
Lee.
In a report published on Wednesday, The Korea Times carried a story with the
headline "Is Filipino president in love with Korean woman?"
It also cited a story from Newsis, a South Korean newswire service.
"South Korea's news wire Newsis cited other Twitter messages to say that the
two had dinner at a restaurant and then the President drove her home. It didn't
mention the exact date or location," The Korea Times said.
"A witness was quoted as saying in the report, 'Grace Lee led the
conversation (with Aquino). The atmosphere during dinner was peaceful and
harmonious,'" it added.
"Judging from reports from the Philippines, their relationship appears to
have become closer than just friendship."
The Korea Times said Lee was born and raised in Seoul, but moved to the
Philippines at the age of ten because of her father's business. The newspaper
said Lee's Korean name is "Lee Kyung-hee."
On Wednesday, Aquino told reporters that he and Lee are "seeing each other."
He did not provide further details, citing his constitutional right to privacy.
After Aquino's admission, Lee was quoted as saying: "What the President said
is true."
