(TRIBUNE) Ninez Cacho-Olivares (photo) - What change and
what straight path is Noynoy preaching when he continues with the patronage
politics of yore practiced by his predecessor?
He even bribes several senators through the pork barrel allocations release,
in exchange for their vote of conviction against the Chief Justice who will be
undergoing a trial in the Senate impeachment court?
Noynoy knows he does not have the required numbers needed for CJ Renato
Corona's conviction, which is why he is resorting to a low form of bribery —
just to get what he wants, which is the ouster of Corona, since he and his
yellows can't get him to resign.
Truth is, Noynoy and his 'yellows' are just proving to the general public how
hypocritical they all are, talking about the straight path and change when they
continue to engage in the same kind of bribery and the same corrupt practice.
Worse, even as they keep on claiming that all who commit offenses will be
made accountable, it is so evident that, when it comes to offenses committed by
his circle of cronies and allies, they are always absolved — and by Noynoy.
Noynoy and his mouthpieces came up praising fulsomely his two favorites in
the Supreme Court, saying that, as they have nothing to hide, they had already
bared their SALns, which was not accurate a statement, since what the two
justices bared was a summary of their SALns, and did not even disclose the
assets, such as, in the case of Associate Justice Antonio Carpio, his
P38-million condominium.
As for Associate Justice Lourdes Sereno, whom Noynoy praised, to the extent
of saying that he would like, as a replacement of Corona as CJ, someone like
Sereno, who, in such a brief time at the high court, has already earned the
reputation of being Noynoy's puppet in the high court, it's time she
acknowledges her hefty legal fees colllected from the arbitration cases of
Piatco and Fraport, as the fees are certainly more than what she had declared as
her networth of P17 million.
So, is Noynoy, with his mantra of change, straight path and accountability,
going to get his 188 congressmen to railroad an impeachment complaint against
his two favorite justices? Is he going to demand that they produce their SALn,
if they have nothing to fear and hide? Is he going to demonize them as he has
been demonizing Corona?
Of course not. They are aligned with him, to the point of even issuing a
summary, which was clearly intended to make Corona's non-disclosure of his SALn
look criminal and of his hiding something — even as both Carpio and Sereno also
stated that their SALns could not be released because of the high court's
resolution which bans the justices' disclosure of the SALn.
One wonders why Newsbreak, Move.ph and the Rappler failed to bring out the
"hidden" assets of the two justices whom they obviously favor and just zero in
on Corona and his condo at the Fort and why the House has not moved to start
impeachment proceedings against the two fave justices of Noynoy.
Resignation for Corona is out of the picture, which is probably the reason
liaisons of Noynoy have been going around and talking with several senators,
with the promise of the early release of their pork, along with extras, all of
which would be sourced from Noynoy's billions in his discretionary funds and
from the agriculture's fund for farm-to-market roads as well as the road tax.
It was already reported, after the Senate's yes vote on the ARMM bill, that
the senators would be given additional pork through the road tax, with even Sen.
Panfilo Lacson being quoted as saying that finally he can provide better roads
for his constituents in Cavite, from the road tax largesse.
And yet there go Noynoy and his cronies, mouthing his mantra of the straight
path when what they preach is not what they do.
