News - 'More truths to come out in days ahead'
President Aquino vouched for the performance of the House panel of
prosecutors, saying it has produced what is necessary to bolster the case
against Chief Justice Renato Corona.
"Palagay ko nailabas naman nila ang dapat na ilabas, nailagay sa record ang
mga dapat na mailagay sa record. At sa palagay ko sa darating na mga araw,
talagang maipapakita natin kung gaano kadali ilabas 'yung katotohanan. So mas
magpapakita pa ng gilas ang ating panel," Aquino told reporters after the
ceremonial switch-on of the household electrification program through renewable
energy of the Department of Energy.
Aquino denied giving instructions to certain senator-judges to come to the
rescue of the prosecutors. This is amid the observation that Aquino's allies in
the Senate, by way of their questioning of the witnesses, are helping the
prosecution build its case against Corona.
"Palagay ko pag mag-suggest man lang ako ng mga instructions sa mga senators,
marami na ang umalma. Hindi yata ganun ang dapat na ugnayan sa co-equal branches
of government. So tayo ay umaasa na ipe-presenta at naipresentang ebidensya ay
supisyente para magkaroon ng conclusion dun sa ating mga inakusa kay Chief
Justice," Aquino said.
The President denied Corona's allegation that the impeachment case against
Corona was triggered by the Supreme Court's ruling on Hacienda Luisita, which is
owned by Aquino's family. Aquino instead urged Corona to answer the charges
against him and not resort to what he said was a "squid tactic."
"Sagutin mo na lang ang issue. Tawag ho nila diyan ng mga dalubhasa, (yan ay)
squid tactic. Tinatanong: nag-file ka ba ng iyong SALN? Ito ba ang nilantad mo
publicly? o di sasasabihin lang niya na, 'Oo finile ko ng ganitong petsa,
lumabas sa ganitong pahayagan in meeting the public disclosure requirement of
the Constitution. Ano koneksyon ng Luisita? Sagutin mo yung mga properties, ang
dami mong dapat sagutin, e bakit naman yung sinasagot mo wala doon sa tanong?
Paano matatapos ang paglilitis, or pagkukuha ng tamang kasagutan sa tanong na
iniharap sa iyo?" Aquino said.

MANILA, Philippines - Transportation and Communications Secretary Mar
Roxas admitted on Friday that he wants Chief Justice Renato Corona removed from
office.
Roxas was reacting to insinuations by the chief justice that he is among 3
persons who are conniving to have him ousted.
According to Roxas, the "DOTC stands for Department of Transportation and
Communications and not Department of Transportation and Corona."
He added that he is very proud to stand with President Benigno Aquino on the
matter.
He said Corona has nothing to blame but himself for not following the law.
Roxas said Corona's removal from office is part of what the Liberal Party is
pushing for through the successful impeachment of the chief justice.
Monsod: Impeachment trial, a form of entertainment for the
poor

Constitutionalist Christian Monsod said that for the poor, the
impeachment trial of Chief Justice Renato Corona is a struggle between the
leadership class and a form of entertainment.
Monson said furhter, "The impeachment trial should have included Supreme
Court decisions that victimized the poor. Impeach trial irrelevant to the poor.
Impeachment charges are only about political issues and not an economic one that
is related to the poor.
