ISSUE: 'GIVE ME A BREAK'
MANILA, DECEMBER 21, 2011
(BULLETIN) Kris Aquino and
her sisters Ballsy and Pinky defend their brother from criticisms.
The Aquino sisters Kris, Ballsy and Pinky defended their brother,
President Benigno Aquino III, from the criticisms he received after attending
the Christmas party of his Presidential Security Group (PSG) on Sunday evening,
just a day after typhoon Sendong ravaged Cagayan de Oro City and nearby
provinces.
The controversy seemingly started when actress Valerie Concepcion posted on
Twitter on Sunday, "It was nice to see Pres. P-Noy laughing at my jokes &
enjoying my performance..ü #Malacañang #PSGNight."
The tweet has already been deleted as of this writing.
"Siguro hindi niyo maiaalis sa amin na sabihin namin na it's not like he
doesn't care. Give me a break, 'di ba? Siyempre pangulo siya ng Pilipinas at
mahal niya ang ating mga kababayan. So siyempre, gagawin naman niya ang lahat,"
Kris said on her show "Kris TV," as quoted on abs-cbnnews.com, on Monday.
The TV host related that the president was with the family on Saturday night,
but "was constantly on the phone monitoring everything."
Kris, together with Kapamilya actors Angel Locsin and Vice Ganda, is
scheduled to fly to CDO today to help the victims.
She lamented, "Sana huwag napakabilis ng batikos kasi napakaraming ahensiya
ang nagtatrabaho na. It's just that a president is not like you or me na we can
hop on a plane and go there because there are a lot of national concerns."
Ballsy said that the president has plans of visiting the devastated areas as
well.
"Alam mo kapag pangulo ka, hindi ura-urada ay gagawin mo 'yon at saka
titignan [mo] lahat. Pero narinig ko na pinag-uusapan na ng PSG at PMS
(Presidential Management Staff) kung ano ang gagawin," she said.
Speaking about the Christmas party in question, Ballsy said that it has
already been scheduled a long time ago. She explained that it's an annual
tradition, adding, "It's time to thank them for always being there. At saka alam
naman nating lahat na binibigay nila ang buhay nila para mapangalagaan ang
Pangulo. At talagang nasa Constitution na dapat mapangalagaan ang Pangulo. Kung
'di man sa Constitution, there's some law."
"Siyempre, may mga masasamang nangyayari at may malungkot, but then, life
should go on. Hindi naman pwedeng huminto na lang ang buhay at magmukmok na lang
tayo," said she.
For her part, Pinky said, "Pinaghahandaan niya [PNoy] ang pagdating niya,
ayaw niyang makagulo nang ganoon. So as early as Saturday, alam na natin na
Tuesday ilalatag nila lahat. Sana ay hindi siya makaabala doon sa government
agencies na talagang working hard to save as many lives as possible."
