NOY WANTS 4 LP MATES TO RUN FOR 2013 SENATE / NOY:
REMORSE A FACTOR IN GMA PARDON

MANILA, DECEMBER 29, 2011 (INQUIRER) President Benigno
Aquino III expects three of his Liberal Party mates who lost in the 2010
senatorial race to make another run for the upper chamber in 2013.

In an
interview with ABS-CBN News Channel anchor Lynda Jumilla, Mr. Aquino said he
would be disappointed if former Akbayan party-list Representative Risa
Hontiveros-Baraquel did not make another attempt at a Senate seat.

He said the same for Customs Commissioner Ruffino Biazon and Deputy Customs
Commissioner Danilo Lim.
This time around, Mr. Aquino said, Budget Secretary Florencio Abad should
also be one of the LP's senatorial bets.
The President said that while the slate would include candidates from parties
in a coalition with the LP, it would be difficult to include bets from Vice
President Jejomar Binay's PDP-Laban, even if Binay was an administration ally.

Binay ran in 2010 against LP vice presidential candidate Manuel "Mar" Roxas
II whom he handily defeated.
Mr. Aquino said he kidded Abad that in 2013 he would be the budget
secretary's campaign manager.

Abad, a ranking LP official, was Mr. Aquino's campaign manager in 2007 when
the latter ran for senator and again in 2010 when he ran for president.
To get back at Abad, the President said that as his manager he would schedule
22 engagements a day for Abad, a schedule that would be more hectic than the
20-event day the budget secretary gave Mr. Aquino in 2010.
Aquino: I want Gloria convicted, not put to sleep
By Norman Bordadora Philippine Daily Inquirer

MANILA,
Philippines — Despite his obvious pique by the allegation and reporters'
questions about it, President Benigno Aquino III denied Thursday that his
administration had any plan to kill former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. He
said he looked silly just answering questions about it.
"What we promised is conviction; for those who committed a crime to be
convicted," President Aquino told reporters in Malacañang.
Nonetheless, the President said, Arroyo would be safer in detention rather
than outside government custody.
"What motive would we have for such? How can we convict when the accused is
no longer around?" Mr. Aquino said.
The President was apparently piqued by questions related to the so-called
"Oplan Put the Little Girl to Sleep" that an Arroyo spokeswoman claimed on
Wednesday the government had drawn up.
"We don't comment on works of fiction," Mr. Aquino said when asked the first
question regarding the alleged plot.
Subsequent questions appeared to irk the President, who said he was starting
to look silly by continuing to answer inquiries regarding the alleged
assassination plot.
NOY: Remorse on part of GMA a
factor for Presidential pardon PHILIPPINE DAILY INQUIRER By Norman
Bordadora
MANILA, Philippines — Remorse on the part of former President Gloria
Macapagal-Arroyo will be a factor for consideration should President Benigno
Aquino III be confronted with a situation in which he would have to decide
whether to pardon her or not if she is convicted of any crime.
President Benigno Aquino III and former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
INQUIRER FILE PHOTO "Pardon I think is governed by several policies within the
Board of Pardons and Parole," President Aquino said in an interview with the
ABS-CBN News Channel. "The degree of remorse is one component that I remember."

"Of course, at this point in time, they manifest that they are innocent of
any of the charges. So if they still profess [innocence], where is the remorse?
Where can we find the remorse there?" he added.
Asked if remorse was something that has to be publicly seen before pardon is
considered, President Aquino said, "It's too way, way ahead, I think."
