LOVE
MANILA, NOVEMBER 16, 2011
(BULLETIN) By JOJO P. PANALIGAN -
Rachelle Ann Go has invited her ex's sister to witness her theater debutMANILA,
Philippines -- Singer and budding theater actress Rachelle Ann Go's answers to
the hypothetical questions thrown at her during "Disney's The Little Mermaid"
press conference on Nov. 9 revealed her thoughts about matters of the heart and
then some.
Asked if like Ariel, her character in "Disney's The Little Mermaid," she'd be
willing to give up her voice for the one she loves, Rachelle Ann said, "I don't
know…hindi ko yata gagawin yung ibibigay ko sa iba 'yung binigay sa kin ni God.
I don't think magagawa ko yun dahil lang sa sarili kong kagustuhan."
She also pointed out that "Disney's The Little Mermaid" is not just a love
story, but about blooming where you're planted and believing in dreams as well
as finding ways to turn these to reality.
"It's not just about finding Prince Charming. Remember, gusto ni Ariel
magka-legs, ang ma-accept ng mga tao. I can relate to that. Nagkaroon din nung
time nung nagsisimula ako when I asked myself, 'San ba ang lugar ko sa industry
na to?'" Rachelle Ann mused aloud.
She shared that her latest project reminded her about faith; that is, belief
in certain things though these are unseen. The singer added that everything she
has gone through in life---including the brouhaha over her breakup with John
Prats a few months back---contributed to her improvement as actress.
Will she invite John to watch her theater debut?
"Wala kasi kaming communication…pero nag-te-text kami ni Camille [Prats,
John's sister] at manonood daw siya…baka si Erik [Santos, who plays Prince
Eric], nainvite siya [John]…"
Rachelle Ann's favorite songs in "Disney's The Little Mermaid" are "Part Of
Your World" and "Beyond My Wildest Dreams."
"Disney's The Little Mermaid" is presented by Atlantis Productions and
Metrobank. It runs at the Meralco Theatre from Nov. 18 to Dec. 11, 2011. Other
well-loved songs from the musical are "Kiss The Girl" and "Under The Sea."
According to director Bobby Garcia, the local staging of "Disney's The Little
Mermaid" fuses Eastern and Western elements.
"Our underwater kingdom will be Asian in theme and our above water world will
be Western, representing two different worlds. We will also be using traditional
forms of Asian and Western puppetry including Wayang shadow play, bunraku, nang
kaloung and western hand and walking puppetry," Garcia was quoted to have said.
Others in the cast of "Disney's The Little Mermaid" are Jinky Llamanzares as
Ursula, OJ Mariano as Sebastian, Calvin Millado as King Triton, Lee Viloria as
Flounder, Ikey Canoy as Scuttle, Felix Rivera as Flotsam, Jamie Barcelon as
Jetsam and Raymond Concepcion as Grimsby.
The Manila production of "Disney's The Little Mermaid" features a full
orchestra using the original Broadway arrangements.
