LORNA T., ALICE D. TAKE ON-SCREEN RIVALRY BEYOND THE CAMERA?
MANILA, NOVEMBER 7, 2011 (MALAYA) ETHEL RAMOS ('[T]hose who attended the presscon for the series could feel the tension between the two, especially when Alice answered the questions about her working relationship with Lorna.')
WILL the conflict of sorts reportedly currently brewing between Lorna Tolentino and Alice Dixson, who are working together in TV5's "Glamorosa," continue as the taping for the series progresses?
Well, those who attended the presscon for the series could feel the tension between the two, especially when Alice answered the questions about her working relationship with Lorna.
In fairness to Alice, she had reportedly earlier told Lorna she would be in character during the presscon. Meaning, she would act like a kontrabida, the part she portrays in the series.
This, according to someone close to Lorna, the actress found somewhat weird. Indeed, why display to members of the entertainment media her role in "Glamorosa," when all of them present at the press conference were supposed to be their real selves?
In "Glamorosa," both Lorna and Alice play cosmetic surgeons. Lorna portrays the older doctor, successful and wealthy. Her heart, though, is hardened when betrayal and tragedy hit her, brought about by the loss of her child and the man she loves.
Alice, on the other hand, is an upcoming cosmetic surgeon, who proved a threat to Lorna.
The clash between them as professionals worsens when they both fall for Zoren Legaspi, a hoodlum and a conman out to take advantage of their feelings for him.
Also in the cast are Tonton Gutierrez, Gloria Diaz, Lotlot de Leon, Jenny Miller and Ronaldo Valdez. Ritz Azul, whom TV5 is obviously determined to build up as a star, is featured.
Newcomers Meg Imperial, Martin Escudero and Victor Silayan also play important roles.

"Glamorosa" marks Eric Quizon's second time to direct a drama series on TV5.
His first drama assignment for the network was "Babaeng HampasLupa," which rated well.
Co-directing "Glamorosa" with Eric are Argel Joseph and Joyce Bernal, who also co-directed "Babaeng Hampaslupa."
"Glamorosa" stars airing tonight after "Will Time Big Time."

At the presscon, all three of the elder stars – Lorna, Alice and Gloria – were asked if they have undergone cosmetic enhancement.
Lorna said she did submit to an invasive treatment. Alice and Gloria, on the other hand, stated they don't have a need for it.
Alice was formerly a commercial model before she joined showbiz.
Gloria has just won the title, "Miss Universe," when she played the title role in "Ang Pinakamagandang Hayop sa Balat ng Lupa," which Celso Ad Castillo directed.
In any case, Gloria, likewise, was asked how she feels being the replacement for Celeste Legaspi.
Gloria answered it's no big deal for her whether she is second, third, or fourth choice. What mattes to her is the role. And she makes sure she always gives her best.

Together with good friend, Boy So, he put up a restaurant called Sir Boy's Republique on Panay Avenue near Roces Street, Quezon City.
Boy serves as the endorser of the eatery, too.
Eric Quizon reportedly is opening an eatery in Cubao with good friend, Raymund Saberon, designer-contractor, who also owns, RS Designs, Inc.
Sylvia Sanchez will reportedly open her own restaurant, too, which she will name TJ's Bar & Restaurant, on Scout Esguerra corner Scout Bayoran, Quezon City. She will reportedly open the place on Nov. 11.

A niece of bold actress-turned politician, Alma Moreno, LJ still accepts TV projects. She is also a pre-school teacher. She married Alapag in 2010 at ceremonies held in Laguna Beach, California.
