MANILA,
NOVEMBER 25, 2011 (STAR) FUNFARE By Ricardo F. Lo - The two
weddings are over but the honeymoon will have to wait.
"We want to go to a place that we've been dreaming of for a long time," said
Jolina Magdangal who woke up late yesterday morning on her first day as Mrs.
Mark Escueta at a resort in Tagaytay City where they exchanged vows at a
Christian garden wedding on Monday, Nov. 21 — their second wedding, actually.
The first was held last Saturday afternoon, Nov. 19, in Catholic rites at Madre
de Dios, also in Tagaytay City, attended only by members of both the Magdangal
and Escueta families.
"The place is Alaska and we want to see the Northern Lights," added Jolina.
"Kailangan daw right timing. During the Northern Lights, nagri-rainbow daw ang
sky and that's what Mark and I want to see. It could happen any time of the year
tataymingan namin."
But before that, the newlyweds plan to go on a cruise early next year.
They planned to hold two weddings to accommodate their many relatives and
friends. The first was kind of "secret" and Jolina wore only a short dress. At
the garden wedding, a bigger one for their families and friends, Jolina looked
radiant in a gown she herself designed and executed by Larry Espinosa.
"The Catholic doesn't give permission to holding a wedding outside of the
church," explained Mark.
The Saturday wedding officiated by a Catholic priest and the Monday wedding
by a pastor.
So when they marched down the aisle at the garden wedding, Jolina and Mark
were already officially married.
Mark walked toward his brand-new wife to the tune of Love Is Waiting sung by
Julie Ann Tarroja. When it was Jolina's turn, Henry Mancini's Moon River,
Jolina's favorite, was played (instrumental version).
Since she already cried during the first wedding, Jolina kept her
cool the second time around.
Among the principal sponsors from showbiz were Arnold Clavio, talent manager
Perry Lansigan, Mel Tiangco, GMA execs Lilybeth Rasonable and Redgie Magno,
Beverly Vergel, Jaya and Celia Rodriguez.
Bridesmaids from showbiz were Judy Ann Santos and Kyla, with Bamboo among the
Groomsmen.
The full coverage of the wedding will be aired on Dec. 4 as a special on
GMA's SNBO (Sunday Night Box Office). Yes! magazine will feature the wedding in
its January 2010 issue.
Their exchange of vows was met by laughter and tears.
"Kasi nga," said Jolina, "may portions na nakakatuwa at may portions na
nakakaiyak."
Those present reacted the same way when the video (prepared by Bon
Nicolas) was shown.
Like the colorful and playful invitation done journal-style, the video
chronicled the couple's love story, including Mark's dramatic proposal to Jolina
at a public park.
While they are still saving up for their dream house, the couple will
alternately stay with at their respective parents' houses.
The first thing Jolina did when she and Mark woke up at 9 o'clock yesterday
morning, was gently fold the shirt that Mark wore under his suit during the
(second) wedding. She will keep it among her souvenirs, she being a sentimental
collector.
Asked how she felt now that she's Mrs. Mark Escueta, Jolina said,
"I'm still so overwhelmed that I couldn't really feel it yet. Ninanamnam ko pa
nang unti-unti."
