The international singer attended the inquest of Angel Capili Jr. last Friday. Capili had admitted he stabbed Charice's dad Ricky several times but said it was in self defense. Police said, however, they have witnesses that say Capili murdered Ricky in cold blood.
Ricky was laid to rest yesterday. The tragedy had once again revealed the deep rift within the Pempengco family.
There had been bad blood between Ricky's siblings and his estranged wife which worsened after Charice achieved international fame. There were accusations that she had turned her back on her dad. But the singer has denied this, saying she had always loved her father.

MANILA, Philippines - The provincial prosecutor's office in Laguna today started the preliminary investigation on the murder case filed by the police against the confessed killer of Charice Pempengco's father, Ricky.
Suspect Angel Capili Jr. was accompanied by his wife Wilma as he faced Assistance Provincial Prosecutor Frisco Marfil this morning.
Capili's lawyer, Ireneo Anarna, told reporters that Wilma will boost the suspect's claim that he did not plan the killing of Pempengco in San Pedro, Laguna last October 31.
Anarna insisted that his client was just visiting San Pedro town for the All Saints' Day and All Saints' Day.
Capili surrendered to the authorities two days after the killing. The suspect admitted to stabbing Pempengco to death, but claimed that he did it in self defense.
He claimed that Pempengco, who drunk at the time of the killing, punched him without any apparent reason.
Reports said that Charice attended the preliminary hearing.
The prosecutor scheduled the next hearing on November 21 at 10 a.m.

Another sensational case that has grabbed the country's attention is the killing of Ramgen Revilla, the half-brother of Sen. Bong Revilla.
Ram was killed in his house in Parañaque City by a group of hooded men, who also shot and wounded his girlfriend, Janelle Manahan.
The death of Ram has caused not only grief but turmoil in the Revilla clan. Two of Ram's siblings, Ramon Joseph and Ramona Belen are being considered as suspects in the case.
Ramon Joseph has been arrested and police are still looking for Ramona Belen as of late last week.
Sibling jealousy appears to be the motive investigators are intent on pursuing. Ramon Joseph and Ramona Belen are said to have been envious of Ram, who was the favorite of his dad, Ramon Revilla Sr.
There is mention of an argument among the three over the supposed P1 million allowance from Ramon Sr.
But the mother of the three, Genelyn Magsaysay, insists Ramon Joseph and Ramona Belen were not capable of murdering their brother because she raised them to be God-fearing individuals.
The case has become intriguing because police have in custody the man whom they allege was the gunman Ramon Joseph and Ramona Belen had hired to kill Ramgen.
Senator Bong, however, refuses to believe that the two had their brother killed and has offered P200,000 for information leading to the solving of the case.
As of late last week, investigators had acquired testimony from Janelle that belies the claim of Ramona Belen that Ram's killers that taken her with them as a hostage and later released her in Las Piñas.
The rift in the clan began to show after Bong emphatically denied that he was harboring Ramona Belen and said her mother was the one who knows her whereabouts.
The killing of Ram so shocked the patriarch Ramon Revilla that he had to be taken to the hospital.

MANILA, Philippines - The preliminary investigation of the murder and frustrated murder charges against Ma. Ramona Bautista for the killing of her elder brother Ram Revilla (real name Ramgen Bautista) will start this afternoon at the Parañaque City prosecutor's office.
"It will be a hearing in absentia. If she will not appear, the hearing will be based on the evidence," a source from the Office of the Prosecutor told The STAR.
Assistant City Prosecutor Leah Roma is handling the investigation.
Ramona or her lawyer will be given 15 days to attend the preliminary investigation or the case will be filed in court based on "uncontroverted" evidence, the source said.
"She cannot say she was denied due process," the source added.
Ramona flew to Hong Kong on Friday, hours after recanting her statement that her brother's attacker kidnapped her.
In a taped video, Ramona claimed that she made up the story because she felt guilty that she left her brother and his girlfriend Janelle Manahan after the attack.
'Dismiss raps vs Ramon Joseph'
Meanwhile, the lawyer of Ramon Joseph Bautista, the principal suspect in the killing of Revilla, meanwhile, asked the court yesterday to release his client and dismiss the criminal charges filed against him.
In a motion to quash the case, lawyer Dennis Manzanal insisted that Bautista was "not lawfully arrested" because the arresting officers "did not have personal knowledge of the crime committed at the residence of the accused."
"The circumstances attendant to this case, particularly the facts upon which the police officers arrested (Bautista) were the product of their investigation and never of their own personal knowledge," Manzanal said.
He added that the knowledge of star witness Ruel Puzon in the crime is limited to its planning and not the execution.
"And since jurisdiction over the person accused is acquired only upon his voluntary surrender or lawful arrest, which clearly neither exists in this case the herein accused respectfully pleads to this honorable court to declare the invalidity of his arrest and further quash the information against him for lack of jurisdiction," according to the the motion.
Manzanal also asked to the court to let his client avail of the "regular preliminary investigation."
He earlier declined to join the inquest proceedings for Bautista and the two alleged gunmen, Michael Nartae and Roy Francis Tolisora.

The case of Ramgen "Ram" Magsaysay Bautista Revilla is getting weirder every minute.
First, the primary suspects behind his killing include his brother Ramon Joseph "RJ" Bautista and sister Ma. Ramona Bautista (photo) who allegedly plotted to kill Ram because of jealousy over a PhP1 million monthly allowance for the brood.
Second, while police already detained RJ Bautista during the wake of his brother, Ma. Ramona stayed out of detention as his half-brother Sen. Ramon "Bong" Revilla initially assumed custody. The senator later denied he coddled Ma. Ramona at any time.
Third, Ram's girlfriend Janelle Manahan who survived from two gunshot wounds, confirmed the sibling rivalry angle and said Ma. Ramona acted strangely during the incident. Manahan said it was Ramona who knocked on the door that led to the killer getting in the room. Ramona, Manahan said, also shouted to the killer, "Tama na! Tama na (Stop it!)," pertaining to what was being done to his brother. Manahan added she asked Ramona to call RJ for help but she just walked away.
Fourth, Ma. Ramona changed her previous statement that she was supposedly abducted by the gunmen and was left in front of a mall along Alabang-Zapote road in Las Piñas, where a security guard saw her and turned her over to the police.
Ramgen's production assistant saw her casually walking out of the house behind his brother RJ and the two gunmen. The village guards also saw her and RJ leave their house. Manahan's testimony is also corroborated by 4 more witnesses. One of them is the hitman who was actually a part of the team that would kill Ramgen, but he backed out.
Fifth, like a sign of guilt, Ma. Ramona left the country November 4 aboard a Cathay Pacific flight to Hong Kong. Before she did, she admitted that she wasn't abducted. She said she was still in shock when she discovered that Ramgen was killed. She said she later told police that she was abducted by Ramgen's killer but was abandoned near Starmall in Las Piñas because she was ashamed about leaving Jannelle and Ramgen.
Despite her retraction about the abduction, Ramona denied that she had a hand in the murder of Ramgen. Ramona, her brother, Ramon Joseph, and 5 others have been identified as suspects in the killing.
Sixth, Ram's mother Genelyn Magsaysay is blaming Sen. Ramon Revilla for what she calls meddling with her family and her son's case. She questioned the motive of the senator in bringing to the authorities her son Ramon Joseph and said that was probably a political move by Revilla Jr. to protect his name in future elections.
Seventh, the case is opening a can of worms on how a showbiz-politico patriarch maintained his multiple families. Accusations and intrigues are being thrown at each family, putting a spot on children. Family representatives have confirmed that Ramon Sr. fathered at least 72 children from 16 women.
It would be interesting to note how government would treat this case now that Ma. Ramona is reportedly in Turkey where her husband reportedly hails from. This early, Justice Secretary Laila de Lima said the might place Ma. Ramona on the "red notice list" of the International Police (Interpol) to restrict her movement abroad.
The Philippines has no extradition treaty with Turkey. Authorities however said the government can still "cause the return to the country" of Ramona, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
Raul Hernandez, DFA spokesperson, on Sunday said "once DFA gets a court order, we will cause the cancellation of (Ramona's) passport so her movements are restricted." The foreign office is also considering "exploring the (Interpol) mechanism to cause her return to the country," Hernandez said. Aside from the Philippine Embassy in Ankara, which is headed by Ambassador Marilyn Alarilla, the country operates a consulate general in Istanbul and honorary consulates in Izmir and Gaziantep.
Sen. Revilla called a press conference November 5 to ask the DFA to "exert legal and diplomatic efforts to bring Ramona back to the country and face our justice system." Hernandez said the department would "work closely with the Department of Justice on this matter to ensure that justice is served."
