MANILA,
OCTOBER 22, 2011 (TRIBUNE) Almost every Filipino is
outraged over the killings by the secessionist rebels of our soldiers — except
the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Noynoy
Aquino, and his peaceniks Teresita "Ging" Deles and the government negotiator,
Marvic Leonen, who have been treating this massacre of 19 soldiers as an
"isolated" incident — even as it has been followed by yet another "isolated
incident" in Zamboanga Sibugay, where the MILF killed five more soldiers and
wounded many others.
Noynoy and his peaceniks refuse to have the military retaliate against the
MILF for the deaths of our soldiers and keep on talking about continuing with
the peace talks and even refuse to suspend temporarily the ceasefire agreement.
And worse, he even shows his "disappointment" of the military over the Basilan
carnage.
Noynoy has ruled out an all-out war against the rebels, telling reporters
that he won't judge the entire MILF organization just because of "one rotten
egg."
One rotten egg when it is the entire MILF organization that even proudly
proclaims that its fighters had ambushed two army trucks in a convoy?
Yesterday, the MILF took responsibility for the two ambush incidents in
Zamboanga Sibugay but justified them, saying they were the MILF's retaliatory
attacks against the military, presumably for the Army-MILF firefight in Basilan,
although Von Al Haq, the MILF spokesman, claimed that the two ambush incidents
were prompted by artillery attacks on MILF camps in Zamboanga Sibugay.
As he put it: "That's the consequences of their (Army) action. It's
retaliation … part of war. Soldiers have been indiscriminately pounding our
position and civilian areas in Bayao town," with the MILG leadership defending
its ambush of government troops last Tuesday, saying they had not choice but to
respond to an attack by the military.
"We were the ones attacked and the Special Forces, who are highly-trained,
were in full battle gear and their mission was to kill as many MILF forces,
including Commander Dan Laksaw Asnawi," the MILF said on its Web site,
www.luwaran.com.
The Special Forces were there to serve an arrest warrant for Laksaw Asnawi.
If the MILF were truly sincere about the peace talks as well as helping the
Aquino government go after those rebels whom the MILF has been protecting,
despite their having committed crimes, why did not the MILF surrender Asnawi to
the soldiers?
The MILF leaders had another take, claiming that they were lucky to have had
A-1 intelligence information from a military mole that the Army was "going to
attack us that very early morning. So we prepared ourselves," adding: "That's
the consequences of their action. It's retaliation … part of war. Soldiers have
been indiscriminately pounding our position and civilian areas in Bayao town,"
he said.
The MILF speaks of retaliation as part of war. And Noynoy, the Commander in
Chief of the AFP, refuses to retaliate and sees the MILF organization as a peace
lover with just one rotten egg in its armed group?
He refuses to even see just how demoralized the soldiers are, being
disappointed still with the soldiery and he refuses to even suspend temporarily
the ceasefire agreement.
What a weakling of a president and commander in chief Noynoy is and what
stupid morons the nation has as peace advisers and negotiators that judge these
massacres of our soldiers as "isolated incidents" along with their insistence on
continuing with the peace talks.
The MILF can retaliate, but not the Philippine military? Truly, what a
weakling the nation has for a president and commander in chief of the AFP who
takes all these massacres by the MILF of our soldiers sitting down and insisting
that an assault on the MILF doesn't benefit anybody.
What kind of a government does the nation have that rejects the notion of
protecting our territories, that allows an armed rebel group to continue
claiming that our soldiers went deep inside the MILF-controlled territories, as
if these MILF-held areas belong to the rebels and that no soldier or official is
allowed to enter, without first seeking permission from the rebel leaders?
Is the MILF now the government and own Philippine territories?
What has Noynoy given the MILF in his meeting with the MILF chieftain in
Japan? More territory? More government power? A de facto state within a state?
Noynoy appears to have sold us down the river.
