BABY NATHANIEL JAMES EXPECTED NEXT MONTH - OGIE

MANILA, OCTOBER 19, 2011 (MALAYA) ETHEL RAMOS ('Kaya, even her OB, in our last visit, told us na baka nga bago matapos ang November, manganak na siya. – Ogie Alcasid')

At the presscon for "Daldalita," we had the chance to talk with Ogie Alcasid, who plays the father of Jillian Ward, who plays the title role.

Ogie told us that his wife, Regine Velasquez, might give birth earlier than December.

"Kasi ang laki laki na ng kanyang tiyan," he related. "Kaya, even her OB, in our last visit, told us na baka nga bago matapos ang November, manganak na siya."

Which is just as well for them, Ogie further stated. As he said, what's important is for Nathaniel James, (the name they decided for their firstborn) to be normal and healthy. And, of course, for Regine to also have a safe delivery.

AN upcoming show on TV5 which I'm sure will become a morning habit for televiewers is "Gellicious," which newest "Kapatid," Gelli de Belen, will host.

Gelli, who was a contract star of GMA 7 for years, recently signed a two year-contract with TV5.

"I was delighted when the concept of the show was first discussed with me," said Gelli. "Lalo't nang marinig ko ang title, which, I heard, was cooked up by Sir Perci (Intalan, TV5 entertainment head)."

It was Perci, we heard, who also conceptualized the show, while he was in Wyoming, U.S.A. for the taping of "Pinoy Explorer." "Pinoy Explorer," hosted by Aga Muhlach, is another one-of-a kind program of TV5.

He didn't want "Gellicious" to be just another cooking show, as obviously there is now a proliferation of such shows. So, why not a sort of a food tripping program, which will allow Gelli, together with her viewers, to discover the best places for their gastronomic desires?

"Aba, type," Gelli gushed. "At least, 'di puwedeng intrigahin and 'Gellicious' na nakikipag-clash sa show ng utol ko (referring to Janice de Belen), who hosts the cooking program, 'Spoon,' on Net 25).

"Besides, I'm truly a food tripper. Together with Ariel (Rivera, her singer-turned-actor husband), when the two of us go abroad, we love visiting mga restaurants and eateries na bago sa pandinig naming ang food na ini-o-offer.

"Tapos, ini-experiment kong gawin once I'm home. I make sure kasi that I ask the waitress or waiter serving us how the food is cooked.

"Madalas kasi, alam din nila."

With "Gellicious," Gelli hopes actually not just to discover but explore the best street foods, the exquisite dining places, plus the most exotic food joints.

Another come-on for the show is Gelli's tips to her viewers on where and when to get the cheapest but quality meats and produce and other edibles. Basta, everyday, Gelli said, she will impart in the show useful food information.

"Gellicious" will start airing on Oct. 24, 11 to 11:30 a.m. on TV5.

Janice, Gelli's elder sister, has jumped ship, too. Actually, she did so ahead of Gelli.

Also a former star of GMA 7, Janice signed a contract with ABS-CBN, where she started her to career, first as a junior newscaster and later, as the star of the soap, "Flordeluna."

Janice is starring in a new series, "Budoy," which is currently making it in the ratings.

Janice plays the adoptive mother of a special child, who, when grows up to become Gerald Anderson. Everyone following the ABS CBN series admires Janice for her depth as an actress. They find her portrayal as so real, it does not seem like acting.

Likewise, Janice jells well with her co-performers, all formidable actors themselves, such as Barbara Perez, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Mylene Dizon and Dante Rivero, who plays her dad.

For her next assignment as a Kapamilya, we heard that Janice will be tapped for another challenging role in the first team up of Vilma Santos and Kim Chiu, repotedly a horror-suspense flick which Chito Rono will direct.
