MARQUEZ BARELY MAKES FLIGHT TO NEW YORK FROM MANILA / WORLD PRESS TOUR

MANILA, SEPTEMBER 6, 2011 (STAR) By Rudy Santos - Visiting Mexican fighter Juan Manuel Marquez and his entourage barely made it to their flight to the US due to a missing suitcase bearing his "lucky" boxing effects.
Marquez's group was unloading their luggage for check-in at the NAIA Terminal 1 at around 6 a.m. when "El Dinamita" noticed that his hand-carried suitcase was missing, realizing they left it on the limousine that took them to the airport from their hotel.
Marquez insisted on not leaving without the bag, claiming it contains training gloves and trunks that he believes bring him luck.
But the Delta Air official at the counter told the Marquez delegation that Flight DL172 to New York via Narita, Japan could not wait for them and would depart at 7:45 a.m. as scheduled whether or not they're on-board.
After minutes of discussion, the Mexicans eventually relented and proceeded to the boarding gate with out the suitcase.
Marquez was in the country for the Manila leg of the World Press Tour promo of his Nov. 12 duel with Filipino pound-for-pound king and Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

POUND-FOR-POUND king Manny Pacquiao hopes to gain the respect of Mexicans as well as well as a warm welcome from the compatriots of his archrival Juan Manuel Marquez.
The Monumento a la Revolución in Republic Square in downtown México City would be the last stop of the two boxers' media tour promoting their much-anticipated third fight on November 12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
On Tuesday (September 6), the tour will go to New York City at the Chelsea Piers and then proceed on Wednesday (September 7) to the West Coast for a news conference at The Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles.
Marquez left the Philippines yesterday morning on a Delta Airlines flight bound for New York City.
Pacquiao, 32, who outclassed several top Mexican boxers among them Erik Morales, Marco Antonio Barrera, Antonio Margarito, Oscar Larios and Jorge Solis, said he is happy to see that Marquez appreciates Filipino hospitality.
"There's nothing personal against Marquez and my other previous fights," said Pacquiao (54-3-2 win-loss-draw with 38 knockouts). "It's only my job to fight and do my best every time I'm inside the ring for pride and country."
