RICHARD'S WHERE THE ACTION IS
MANILA, SEPTEMBER 24, 2011 (MALAYA) ALTHOUGH Richard Gutierrez is in a faraway land for the celebrity edition of "Survivors," his presence will still be felt by Philippine televiewers via "Anatomy of a Disaster."
The documentary airs on this Sunday, Sept. 25, on GMA's "Sunday Night Box-Office."
Richard hosts the hour-long program which dissects the factors that worsen the effects of calamities and catastrophies. This Sunday's episode of "Anatomy of a Disaster" is titled "Takes sa Guho," focused on the Feb. 17, 2006 landslide in the village of St. Bernard, Leyte, which disappeared in the map when it was buried in thick mud and soil from a nearby mountain that collapsed due to heavy rain.
Entire families perished and trails of despair abounded.
Richard gives timely and relevant advice on how to avoid becoming a casualty and putting a stop on the terrible tragedy by finding solution to the root cause.
Where the action, the disaster is, Richard is there. He's ever ready to be of help. No wonder then that the actor is recognized as an environmental hero.
As a mountainous nation, the Philippines has witnessed numerous landslides that claimed the lives of thousands year after year, especially during the rainy season.
"Anatomy of a Disaster" is the local adaptation of the international docu. Host Richard Gutierrez brings in local insight by showing short features set in Philippine setting, like this Sunday night's episode.
