Diet plays an offbeat role in Quark Henares' master work, "Rakenrol," as hunky rock star, Jacci Rocha, who speaks only in English and thinks he's God's gift to women. "Maliit lang 'yung role ko," he says. "Guest role lang, pero nanganak nang nanganak ang mga eksena ko. Natuwa yata si Direk Quark with the way I portrayed my role. In the story, ako 'yung idol ni Glaiza de Castro who's a member of a new band, Hapipaks. Their leader, Jason Abalos, is secretly in love with her kaya nagselos sa'kin."
"Rakenrol" has a loyal group of followers in its Facebook fan page excited over its final release. It's written by Quark and Diego Castillo, both rockers. Also in the movie are Ramon Bautista as music video director Flame Tigerblüden, Ricardo Cepeda as a samurai marketing guru, Jun Sabayton as Mo's artist roommate and Matet de Leon as herself. "Rakenrol" opens nationwide September 21.

Iza Calzado has just returned from promoting GMA Pinoy TV in Canada and she was surprised to find out that she's now reported as the new squeeze of President Pinoy Aquino. "Nakakahiya sa kanya," she says. "We were just introduced to each other at the birthday party of Ogie Alcasid, tapos kung anu-ano na ang lumabas na tsismis. Nagde-date na raw kami. It's not true. I never heard from him after that. Also, I just came out of a relationship and I'm not ready at this point to get into another one."
Iza admits she has split up with businessman Atticus King. "It was beautiful when it was going on," she says. "We parted as friends. I learned a lot from him lalo na about physical fitness as he's a health buff."
She won't say anymore why they broke up. She also says it's not true she reconciled with her former US-based boyfriend, Gerry Garcia, who was also linked to Cher Calvin. How about the rumor she's moving to TV5?
"I'm about to start taping my new soap with GMA-7," she says. "Kasama ko sina TJ Trinidad and Geoff Eigenmann."

Lea Salonga is one of the judges of the Miss Universe Pageant that will be held at Sao Paulo, Brazil on Monday but will be telecast here in Manila, today, Tuesday. She said she got the invitation through her manager, David Belenzon. She's thrilled to be a judge and she knows she'll have lots of fun but she'll stay in Brazil for only a couple of days as she has to go back to the US for her concert tour. Before her, Kuh Ledesma was the first Filipina singer to be invited as judge in 1991. Along with Lea, the other judges for this year are broadcaster Connie Chung, actress Vivica Fox, model Isabeli Fontana, Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves, reality TV star Adrienne Maloof, and Miss Universe 2003 Amelia Vega. Manny Pacquiao was not one of them as earlier reported. The hosts are Andy Cohen and Natalie Morales. It'll be aired live locally on ABS-CBN and the Velvet Network on cable. Our bet this year, Shamcey Supsup, is topping the online poll so hopes are high for Pinoy beauty pageant lovers that she might just make it as the country's third Miss Universe winner.

Do you know that the Philippines is said to be the fourth largest country among 127 nations trafficking humans for sex? Around the world, 1.2 million children are victimized every year; 100,000 of them Filipinos. Kapuso talents led by Rhian Ramos and Bela Padilla were shocked to learn this in a seminar, "Called to Rescue," that helped them learn more about sex trafficking and how dreadful it has become. Banking on their drawing power as celebrities, they were encouraged to "create noise" against the globally lucrative sex trafficking industry, "be more vigilant" on capturing pimps and "be extra wary and protective" of women and children victims.
Dr. Cyndi Romine, founder of the "Called to Rescue" campaign, facilitated the briefing, with another familiar figure, Anthony Pangilinan, in attendance, as he is on the board of directors involved in the campaign. Other stars at the briefing were Steph Henares, Gino dela Peña, Enzo Pineda, Rocco Nacino, Joshua Dionisio and Barbie Forteza.

Enzo Pineda is the only Kapuso actor in the top ten Celebrity Centerfolds chosen by Cosmopolitan Magazine this year. The others are Paulo Avelino (formerly with GMA but now with ABS-CBN), Kapamilya actors Enrique Gil, Ahron Villena, and Ejay Falcon, Azkal athletes Aly Borromeo, Anton del Rosario, James and Phil Younghusband (who seem to have lost their luster after they lost to Kuwait) and Brapanese model Hideo Muraoka (who became controversial as he's already married with a child). They'll all perform at Cosmo Bash to be held at World Trade Center tonight, September 15. They're also featured in the Cosmo Men supplement in the magazine's September issue with Kim Kardashian on the cover, also with 69 other hunks that include Mike Tan, Benedict Campos, Geoff Taylor, Gino de la Peña and Dex Quindoza of GMA-7 and Markki Stroem, Manuel Chua and Rodjun Cruz of ABS-CBN.

Amy Perez was celebrating her birthday on the day the presscon of "Kumare Klub" was held on Sept. 5. Everyone sang the birthday song for her and a big caramel cake with a lighted candle was brought in by the waiter. Amy was so happy as she's really enjoying so many blessings now. She's seen on TV daily in "Sapul sa 5," "Kumare Klub" and "Face to Face." What else could she wish for? "Sana, makuha ko na 'yung annulment ko (from Brix Ferraris) so Carlo (Castillo, her current partner) and I can get married," she said. "Gusto ko ring magkaroon kami ng another baby ni Carlo after our son Kyle. My son with Brix is also a boy, so sana maka-girl naman ako next time. Kaso, 42 na ko. Baka mahirapan ako, but my doctor said puede pa rin naman daw akong mabuntis."
TV5 management is happy because all Amy's shows are topraters. They're also glad that "T3," the new show of Ben, Raffy and Erwin Tulfo is also rating very high.

Boots Anson Roa is glad that right after she finished 'Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin' on ABS-CBN, GMA-7 now got her to be part of their number one show, "Munting Heredera." She'll play a contravida to Gloria Romero this time. Gloria's first love, Robert Arevalo, has already appeared in the show.
It turns out he was once married to Boots and they have a son, Bobby Andrews. Boots and Bobby will make the lives of Gloria and the other characters in "Munting Heredera" more complicated. But we heard Bobby might have a problem with GMA-7 as he's also in the cast of ABS-CBN's new show "Budoy" with Gerald Anderson.
"Munting Heredera" gets more exciting now that Mark Anthony Fernandez, who was mistaken for dead, turns out to be alive. But he can't remember his past and the doctor diagnoses him to have amnesia.

Jomari Yllana says doing "Ikaw ang Pag-ibig" is a labor of love for him. He didn't get any talent fee for his role as a doctor who becomes Ina Feleo's love interest. "The film pays tribute to the miraculous Lady of Penafrancia, the patron saint of Bicolanos whose image is at the Cathedral in Naga," he says. "My family is from Bicol and some of my relatives, sila ang nagbibihis sa Mahal na Birhen when her feast day in September comes. Baka magalit si Mama Mary kung sisingil pa ko for my work in her movie. Also, I'm happy to be reunited with Direk Marilou Abaya, who also helmed me before in 'Sa Pusod ng Dagat.' Doon, komadrona sa isang maliit na isla ang papel ko. This time, obstetrician na talaga ako."
We've seen "Ikaw ang Pag-ibig" and Jomari really gives an outstanding performance in his role as his interpretation is so effortless and natural, no histrionics whatsoever but just a very relaxed portrayal of a man who's so in love with a woman (Ina) with whom he has a son but who resists his proposals of marriage. He deserves to get a best supporting actor nomination for this film. Jom is one of the four Bicolanos in it. The others are Eddie Garcia who plays the bishop, Shamaine Centenera as the mother of Ina and Jaime Fabregas who, like Nora Aunor, is from Iriga City.
