GMA NETWORK'S JULIE ANN SAN JOSE OPENS ARCHULETA'S MANILA GIG

MANILA, JULY 11, 2011 (STANDARD) by Isah V. Red - Guess what? A GMA Network star will open David Archuleta's concert at the Araneta Coliseum on on July 18.

Fans of this young singer (who is being paired with rising young star Elmo Magalona) are more than excited since they presume that she is going to meet the cute American Idol Season 7 runner up.

The July 18 gig is David Archuleta's first ever solo concert in Manila. His Filipino fans will experience the balladeer's music, all by himself. His music has evolved since the first time he stepped on the concert stage in 2008.

Julie Anne San Jose, one of GMA-7's prized talents and a prime mover in the highly successful GMA Tweens, has been chosen from among a wide pool of Filipino talents, to open the show for Archie.

Julie Anne, 17, has been thrust into the limelight at an early age. She started singing in 2005 at age 11. She landed at the Top 5 in the singing competition Popstar Kids, after which she recorded albums with the show's spinoff band, Sugarpop.

A number of hosting and acting stints later, Julie Anne has proved to be one of the most promising young stars in the country today. Her team-up with the up-and-coming Elmo Magalona also continues to gain a steady following. The two are one of Tweens much watched and must followed love teams. They are seen regularly in Andres De Saya with Cesar Montano and Iza Calzado.

Julie Anne's singing talent has been noticed as well, that's why she is always given a big production number in the network's Sunday lunchtime show called Party Pilipinas. The young lady has surely been showcasing her singing prowess, even besting some veterans in the show. She has also recorded a string of songs for the network, among them the themes for Dyesebel, The Last Prince, Pilyang Kerubin, Sisid, and Dwarfina.

Julie Anne says she couldn't believe it when she was told that she had been chosen to open for the international singer David Archuleta—but it was indeed a dream come true, she adds.

Raw art

Remember Robert Alejandro? If you're one of those who religiously followed Probe, you will, but if you didn't care so much for public affairs show you wouldn't.

But Alejandro also used to host an art show for kids on the Kapuso network until some misunderstanding between the network and the show's producer led to an unceremonius break up, hence Probe had no choice but to move to another channel.

Now, Alejandro is making use of spare time to build his art porfolio, and first among his projects is RAW.

RAW is a studio located at 10a Alabama St. (New Manila Q.C.), It is, according to him, is the newest scene in indie art along with Hausbesetzer Laboratory and Resurrection Furniture.

What do we see at RAW?

Currently, on exhibit are the Sartorialist Sketches original watercolors, various matchbox art, whimsy art sculpture, a limited collection of retro giant movie billboards and more.

Robert Alejandro is the artist and designer famed as the "RO" of papemelroti, a founding member of INK (ilustrador ng kabataan), the sketching reporter of the Probe Team for almost a decade working with Cheche Lazaro, the host of the incredibly successful Art is Kool, space designer of various projects such as Alabang Town center, ROX Marquee Mall etc., designer of various coffee table books/magazines and recently artist and writer as the sketching backpacker.

So, when you have time, drop by RAW and imbibe the artistic splendor of Alejandro's design ideas.
