MANILA, JUNE 11, 2011 (MALAYA) In celebration of Independence Day on Sunday, June 12, Kuh Ledesma, the Philippines' Pop Diva will showcase "Musikang Pinoy" in a special performance in SM Mall of Asia-Atrium at 5:30 p.m.
Her repertoire will include love songs like "Ang Ibig Sabihin Nito," "Silayan," "I Love You," and "Hawak Kamay" including songs highlighting the Filipino pride like "Kay Ganda ng Ating Musika" and music that celebrates our love of country like "Ako ay Pilipino" and the iconic "Bayan Ko."
Kuh Ledesma has been performing for 25 years in the music industry, encompassing more than 300 concerts, numerous awards, and 18 albums.
She was the first Filipino singer to become a recipient of the Salem Music Awards in London in March 1989, and has established herself as the country's most important female pop act today.
She has triumphantly conquered recording, the concert stage, television, advertising, and musical production; with her music cutting across generations, social classes, and genres with her customary brilliance and sophistication.
Meanwhile, the Independence Day celebrations in MOA will begin with a flag raising ceremony at 7:00 a.m., highlighted exhibits in line with the Rizal@150 festivities this year. These include the National Historical Commission's chronology of events in Jose Rizal's Life; as well as the University of Southern Philippines' Rizal Traveling Museum, which showcases replicas and original pieces Jose Rizal's belongings including an actual winter coat he wore, as well as Josephine Braken's sketchbook. Terracotta figurines depicting Rizal's life by designer John Ablaza will also be featured in the exhibit.
While shopping, and enjoying the music and performances, mallers can also enjoy "Pinoy Sarap" in MOA's Filipino restaurants; and cap the day with the breathtaking "Pyromusical Show" at 7:00 p.m. in the By the Bay area.
