NEW YORK (AP), APRIL 1, 2011 (STAR) With his years as governor behind him, Arnold Schwarzenegger will soon return to his acting career with a new animated TV series.
The planned action-comedy cartoon is called "The Governator," according to A Squared Entertainment, a partner in the venture. It will focus on a superhero living a double life as an ordinary family man. Schwarzenegger will provide the voice of the title character.
Comic-book legend Stan Lee is another partner in the project, which will be officially announced Monday at the MIPTV trade show in Cannes, France.
The series is planned as the first stage of a franchise that could also include comics and films.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is turning his nickname into his next career move as the cartoon superhero called the Governator.
"When I ran for governor back in 2003 and I started hearing people talking about 'the Governator,' I thought the word was so cool," Schwarzenegger tells Entertainment Weekly.
Being developed by Spiderman co-creator Stan Lee, the Governator will be a semi-fictional character based on the body-builder turned actor turned politician.
"We're using all the personal elements of Arnold's life. We're using his wife. We're using his kids. We're using the fact that he used to be governor. Only after he leaves the governor's office, Arnold decides to become a crime fighter and builds a secret high-tech crime-fighting center under his house in Brentwood," Lee says.

Like every proper superhero, the Governator will have a fleet of vehicles, a closet of suits that allow him to fly and perform stunts, and sidekicks who include Zeke Muckerberg, a 13-year-old computer whiz who acts as the Governator's cybersecurity expert. The comic's villainous opposition is an organization called Gangsters Imposters Racketeers Liars & Irredeemable Ex-cons (G.I.R.L.I.E. Men, for short).
The Governator will be out next year.
What do you think of the idea?
