PAMPI LACSON ADMITS MARRIAGE TO JODI IN ROCKY TERRITORY
MANILA, MARCH 8, 2011 (BULLETIN) By JULIEN MERCED C. MATABUENA – Panfilo "Pampi" Lacson Jr. finally breaks his silence about the state of his marriage with actress Jodi Sta. Maria.
"Inaamin ko na ang pagsasama naming mag-asawa ay kasalukuyang dumadaan sa isang matinding pagsubok. Isang pagsubok ito na pinagsikapan naming mahinahon na malampasan alang-alang sa aming anak at kapamilya," Lacson was quoted as saying in a statement exclusively aired on "Paparazzi," March 6.
Lacson said that he and Jodi have been estranged for seven months now and "would have maintained our silence until we resolve the issue about our marriage" if not for the proliferation of "the malicious and totally erroneous reports" that allege he was physically abusing Sta. Maria.
"Sa mga nagpaparatang na pinagbubuhatan ko ng kamay ang aking asawa, nagkakamali po kayo. Hindi ko po magagawa na manakit ng babae lalo na kung siya ang ina ng aking anak," Lacson said.
While he did not touch on rumors about Sta. Maria's alleged third party issue, he appealed to the public to stop making such accusations.
"Hindi po makakatulong sa aming kalagayan ang ganitong maling paratang. Sa halip, nagdudulot lamang ito ng dagdag na pasakit hindi lamang sa kalooban ni Jodi kundi pati na rin sa aming anak na si Thirdy.
"Sa ngayon wala na pong ibang mahalaga sa akin kundi ang magandang kinabukasan ng aking anak. Patuloy po akong umaasa sa inyong panalangin at pang-unawa," he said.
Lacson and Sta. Maria tied the knot in March 2005 in Las Vegas. Reports that they have separated came out as early as 2007 and resurfaced last year. According to the grapevine, the couple has broken up because of Lacson's alleged abuse and Sta. Maria's alleged infidelity with actress Iwa Moto's non-showbiz beau, Mickey Ablan.
Meanwhile, Moto cleared Sta. Maria's name by saying flatly that she's not referring to her when she mentioned the involvement of a "third party" to her separation with Ablan.
"Hindi ko alam kung saan nanggaling ang isyu na lumalabas about Jodi, and hindi ko alam kung bakit siya ang itinuturo. Sana po, tama na po 'yung mga taong naaapektuhan po. Ang isipin na lang po natin, like at her side, may anak siya at may asawa siya. Kawawa naman po sila na nadadamay na po," Moto told "Startalk TX" via taped interview last March 5.
