SARAH NERVOUS ABOUT TEAMUP WITH GERALD ANDERSON

MANILA, FEBRUARY 2, 2011 (STAR) DIRECTLINE By Boy Abunda - Sarah Geronimo is praying that Kimerald fans will accept her as another screen partner of Gerald Anderson. Sarah is working on a yet untitled movie under Star Cinema. Yes, she is a bit nervous, but she is hoping fans of Gerald and Kim Chiu will support her tandem with Gerald. "May kaunting kaba. Pero pinagdarasal ko po na sana matanggap ng supporters nila na ito ay trabaho lang," she said.
Gerald and Sarah team up for the first time in this movie. And some sectors are wary Kimerald fans might not approve of the tandem. But Gerald is confident they will support his new partnership with Sarah. "I am thankful to the Kimeralds for their continued support. Pumupunta sa taping ko, pumupunta sila sa taping ni Kim. Nakikita ko ang suporta nila kahit hindi kami magkasama."
Gerald and Kim have had a very successful movie pairing. Their movies Sana Maulit Muli, My Girl, Tayong Dalawa, Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo and Till My Heartaches End were big box-office hits. Sarah's movie with John Lloyd Cruz, A Very Special Love and You Changed My Life were also box-office blockbusters.
Now, Sarah and Gerald are reportedly pressured with the high expectations leveled on their tandem. "All of us are nervous. Coming from two successful movies with John Lloyd, di maiwasan yong comparison. But as they say, we won't enjoy this if we think of the pressure," explained Sarah.
Sarah also denied there is discomfort on the set with her other leading man in the movie, Matteo Guidicelli. "We first had bonding sessions with direk Mae Cruz. The three of us had a heart-to-heart talk. Walang ilangan. They're both gentleman," said Sarah.
Gerald tries not to compare Sarah to Kim. "Magkaiba sila ni Kim. They are very good with what they do. I am very blessed dahil si Kim nakasama ko, and now it's Sarah. She's very nice. Tahimik lang din at very professional."
He also said that being pressured is part of the territory. "Kahit anong proyekto may pressure. Pero yon nga ang challenge sa amin. To try to give the very best in us," Gerald said.
Gerald who was earlier rumored to be in a special friendship with Bea Alonzo was in good spirits when asked about Zanjoe Marudo, the rumored new love of Bea. "Everything is normal. Happy sila. Kami, we decided to be friends first."
Bb. Pilipinas has a new home
Binibining Pilipinas has found a new home in ABS-CBN. The pageant organizer which has produced international beauties like Gloria Diaz, Margie Moran, Melanie Marques, Miriam Quiambao, Venus Raj, Lara Quigaman, Bianca Manalo, Zenaida Ruth Andam, Jewel May Lobaton, Charlene Gonzalez, Maribel Lopez, Chiqui Brosas, Nina Ricci Alagao, Carlene Aguilar, Ruffa Gutierrez, has finally opened to the public its preliminary screening of candidates which was traditionally off limits to the public.
"This is the first time I am doing this. All the applicants are presented to the press. We never did this before. We only showed the 24 candidates every year. The provinces make a lot of effort and they spend money to bring these girls to look good to be able to face us and why not give them a chance to be known by the rest of the people in the Philippines?" said Stella Marquez-Araneta.
Binibining Pilipinas organizers gathered a panel of experts to help out in the selection process. These include international pageant title holders Venus Raj and Lara Quigaman. Lara who has been at odds with Binibining Pilipinas, is happy to be back in its fold. "We really missed Binibini. I miss helping out, training the girls. This is a great start." Some of those who have been screened were former Deal or No Deal 26K girl Chloe Mccully and Reina Cuneta, Sharon Cuneta's niece.
Tribute to Victorio Edades
Art 2 Art paid tribute to National Artist for Visual Arts Victorio C. Edades in its episode last Sunday. Edades is regarded as the Father of Modern Philippine Painting. After being exposed to modern styles such as cubism and surrealism in the US where he lived and worked for nine years, he became the leader of the "Thirteen Moderns," a group of painters established in 1941 in answer to the prevailing conservative trend in art in the Philippines. Edades was named National Artist in 1976. He passed away in March 1985 at 89.
Host Lisa Macuja interviewed art historian, author and UP College of Fine Arts professor Santiago "Jak" Pilar (photo) for the special tribute. Art 2 Art is aired on DZRH (666 khz on the AM band).
