Manila Hotel celebrated the Chinese New Year on February 3, 2011 with the re-launch of Mabuhay Palace, its sophisticated and elegant Chinese restaurant that surpasses the standard of even the most discerning palate.

The hallways leading to the Mabuhay Palace were adorned with festive Chinese lanterns and red flags giving off a celebratory mood. Dragon dances and indoor fireworks were in full display to usher in the auspicious Year of the Rabbit and to ward off negative vibes.

Entertainment was also provided by the graceful fan dancers that signaled the beginning of the Lunar New Year feast.

The re-launch of Mabuhay Palace was marked with the introduction of its all-Cantonese menu that caters to no less than the refined tastes of Chinese cuisine lovers. Cantonese cuisine is characterized by its unique style of cooking and the use of only the freshest ingredients. The dishes are cooked by steaming and frying to bring out all the flavors of the ingredients. Mabuhay Palace's signature dishes are still part of the new menu which includes the Long Life Prawns and the Vegetarian Pecking Duck.

Amidst the grand dining area enveloped in rich hues of bright red, orange, and gold with chinoiserie carved Chinese dividers and jade panels depicting the life of the Chinese Philosopher Confucius, the sumptuous Chinese New Year favorites were served. The meal opened with the Prosperity Salad which is always present in every meal for the entire Lunar Year celebration and symbolizes prosperity and fortune. The Braised Pork Leg with Chinese Buns is said to bring happiness and good relationship in marriage while the Braised Dried Oyster with Bean Curd Sheet and Sea Moss brings good luck to the business. Perfectly capping the meal are the

Nian Gao and Mabuhay Palace Home Made Ice Cream that symbolize sweet close family ties. This wonderful feast, among the other sumptuous dishes of the new menu, is carefully prepared to indulge your cravings under the supervision of Mabuhay Palace Executive Chinese Chef Sun Bing.
