MANILA, JANUARY 11, 2011 (BULLETIN) By ALEX VALENTIN BROSAS - Although he could very well afford to buy a private jet, Manny Pacquiao is not about to splurge his millions on such a luxury vehicle.
Pacquiao and his wife, Jinky, denied recent reports that they flew to Japan for a short vacation using their newly-acquired private plane.
"Hindi. Hindi sa akin 'yon," Pacquiao denied at the local airport after planing in from trips to Japan and Australia.
The controversial plane, it turned out, is owned by Ilocos Sur governor Luis "Chavit" Singson, one of Pacquiao's closest friends.
"Kay Gov. Chavit 'yung private plane na bago niyang bili. Sabi niya doon kami sasakay papuntang Japan," Jinky explained on "Showbiz Central," Jan. 9.
Rumor has it that Pacquiao got "enamored" of the 32-seater private jet made in Germany with European interior design. It was reported that the pound-for-pound king immediately issued a check amounting to half the price of the jet.
Jinky believes that spending a lot of money on such a luxurious possession is "useless."
"Mas importante 'yung sa pamilya na magagamit [ang pera], 'di ba? Save na lang 'yung money para sa future."
She shared small anecdotes about their recent vacation. Jinky said that they went to Tokyo Disneyland and experienced snow in Japan. In Australia, the family saw koalas.
On other matters, Pacquiao commented on the withdrawal of the $10-million lawsuit that American recording company RGB Group filed against him and his Emmanuel Pacquiao Foundation before the Los Angeles Superior Court. The lawsuit is for allegedly reneging on his commitment to record songs for an album.
"Winithdraw nila 'yung kaso nila? Eh, baka naman mali 'yung ginawa nila. Siguro... at hindi ko pa nakausap 'yung abogado ko," Pacquiao backtracked.
He, however, maintains that he tries to be very fair with all his dealings.
"Tayo naman hindi tayo nang-aagrabyado ng tao. Ang sa akin is gusto kong mamuhay nang parehas, ng walang inaaagrabyadong tao.
