MANILA, JANUARY 21, 2011 (STAR) By Reinir Padua - Emerson Lozano, the car dealer who was kidnapped, murdered and found burned, was laid to rest yesterday in Marikina City.
"We feel a painful burden in our hearts," his grieving father, former Marcos lawyer Oliver Lozano, said after the burial at the Loyola Memorial Park.
According to the elder Lozano, what keeps the family together after the tragedy is their faith in God and the belief that his son is now in a blissful
reunion with his departed grandparents and other relatives.
"(There will be) no more tears and pain (where he is now)… (and) in due time, we will be joining him," he said.
"We will continue with our quest to seek justice for Emerson," the father declared.
Emerson worked as project manager for a company and moonlighted as a car dealer. He went missing on Jan. 12 after a supposed meeting with a client at a gas station in Barangay Old Balara in Quezon City.
The body of Emerson's companion Ernani Sensil was found dumped in La Paz, Tarlac on Jan. 13. Emerson's charred body was found the next day but his identity was confirmed only on Jan.16.
Lozano said that what helps comfort their family is the support given by a lot of people who have taken interest in the case of his son and that of fellow car dealer Venson Evangelista, who suffered the same fate in separate but similar circumstances.
"Time heals everything. God has mysterious ways of healing our moral anguish," the grieving father said.
The elder Lozano has taken up the cause following the death of his son and has vowed to actively campaign against criminality in the country.
Following his son's brutal murder, Lozano said he would be an active anti-crime crusader.
He revealed he would form an anti-crime crusade group to complement efforts of groups like the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption.
He explained that instead of being helpless victims and just leaving it to law enforcers to fight criminality, citizens should find ways to help the government and the police.
"We should not be cursing the darkness, instead lighting a candle," the elder Lozano said.
