NO LAVISH YULE PARTIES IN P-NOY'S ADMIN, PLEASE
MANILA, NOVEMBER 22, 2010 (STAR) By Delon Porcalla - No lavish Christmas parties please. Malacañang said parties in government offices this Yuletide season are covered by the administration's austerity measures.
"Christmas is included in our austerity measures. Christmas parties need not be extravagant," deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said in an interview with government-run radio dzRB.
State workers will receive the remaining half of their 13th month pay and their P5,000 cash gift starting today.
The first half of the 13th month pay had been disbursed last May.
All government employees with the exception of consultants and job-order workers will receive the 13th month pay and the cash gift. The 13-month pay is equivalent to one-month salary while the P5,000 cash gift applies across the board.
State workers will get more than half of their 13th month pay because of basic salary adjustments under the Salary Standardization Law III.
Budget Secretary Florencio Abad had said employees of local government units and government-owned and controlled corporations are also entitled to these benefits but the bonuses will have to be funded by the agencies.
The government is still determining if the national budget would still allow the disbursement of the Productivity Enhancement Incentive for government employees.
