PHNO-SB: POKWANG SORELY MISSES KRIS; ANGEL LOCSIN IN 'IMORTAL'

POKWANG SORELY MISSES KRIS; ANGEL LOCSIN IN 'IMORTAL'

MANILA, OCTOBER 5, 2010 (MALAYA) ETHEL RAMOS ('[Y]ou cannot blame me if I miss her. – Pokwang')

WHEN Pokwang (real name: Marietta Subong) was still an OFW in Saudi Arabia a few years back, it never entered her mind that she would one day meet Kris Aquino, rub elbows with her, much more become her friend. Her close friend.

"Sa tingin kasi ng mga ordinary na tao, mahirap abutin si Kris," said Pokwang. "Ganyan ang impression ko sa kanya noong una akong makasama sa ABS-CBN bilang Kapamilya."

When she chose to campaign for Kris' brother, President Noynoy Aquino, she didn't mean to attract Kris' attention. She just happened to like the then presidential candidate, especially Noynoy's plans for the poor.

"Kaya, when Kris called me and thanked me for my support of President Noynoy after the election, talagang na-touch ako. Lalo na when she learned that I had dreamt so much of owning a pink bus, which she used to go to work. When even without me asking for it, she decided to give me the vehicle, lalo akong natulala sa kanya," revealed Pokwang.

"Lalo kong napatunayan ang kabaitan ni Kris when we started working together in 'Pilipinas …Win Na Win' (PWNW)," she added .

How does she feel now that Kris will no longer be a part of PWNW?

Pokwang, while wiping a tear, replied: "It's management's decision, so what can we do? Besides, kung natanggap ni Kris ang verdict ng management, 'di lalong dapat ako.

"But you cannot blame me if I miss her. Ilang buwang na rin na araw-araw magkatrabaho kami."

The group of Rico J. Puno, Hajji Alejandro and the other hitmakers, Rey Valera, Noynoy Zuñiga and Marco Sison, are now Pokwang and Valerie Concepcion's co-hosts in PWNW.

Kris, in her Twitter account, revealed that she quit the show, as she thinks it's not for her.

As of this writing, we heard the report that Kris will soon host the return of "Deal or No Deal."

Pokwang said she is not sure if Kris would be able to watch any of her performances in her three-day concert at the Aliw Theater titled "Endangered Species."

She will invite Kris, said Pokwang. But if Kris fails to show up, the comedienne will understand.

"Endangered Species" is Pokwang's first major concert.

"Actually," said the concert producer, Joed Serrano, "we originally wanted it held sa Araneta Coliseum. Like that of the successful concert of Vice Ganda (which Joed also produced).

"But the day of our concert, we were told by Araneta Coliseum, ay naka-book na for another artist. Kaya we decided to hold it sa Aliw Theater. And instead of holding the concert for one night lang, we decided na i-book ito for three days, Oct. 15 to 17."

He has high hopes for Pokwang as it will reveal in front of hundreds of people Pokwang's numerous talents, not just in comedy, but also in singing, dancing, acting and impersonating.

"Nagre-rehearse na kami for the show this early," Joed revealed, "at maniwala kayo at hindi, lahat kaming nanonood ng kanyang rehearsals ay 'di lang tuwang tuwa sa kanya kundi tawa pa nang tawa."

For the day three-day concert, to be directed by Johnny Manahan, Pooh, Chocoleit, Elizabeth Ramsey and Mahal will also perform. The special guests will be Sam Milby and Zsa Zsa Padilla on Oct. 15; Mommy Dionisia, Melai Cantiveros, Regine Velasquez and Piolo Pascual on Oct.16, and Melai, John Lloyd Cruz and Kuh Ledesma on Oct. 17.

The highly-anticipated series, "Imortal," co-starring for the first time John Lloyd and Angel Locsin, is now airing on primetime on ABS-CBN.

"Imortal" is the story of two supernatural beings who fall in love instantly – without knowing the truth about the other.

Every scene, according to the two directors, Chito Rono and Jerry Lopez Sineneng, is simply amazing, unbelievable and indescribable.

"It's one of those na 'di puwedeng panoorin without screaming.

"Ako mismo habang pinanonood ko ang ilang eksena ay hindi makuhang huminga.

"Ang sarap na panoorin, bagama't makakaramdam ka ng takot, kung hindi man nerbiyos," Vivian Velez, who used to be known in her time as "Miss Body Beautiful," said.

Vivian, who is staging a comeback in "Imortal," plays a vampire.

"It's my first to be entrusted with such role," Vivian revealed. "Mahirap at nakaka-exhaust. But it's worth it."
