MANILA, OCTOBER 12, 2010 (MALAYA) BY JOCELYN MONTEMAYOR - THE country's bachelor president yesterday indirectly admitted that he and Valenzuela Councilor Shalani Soledad have broken up after admitting that he is "being friendly" with a lady lawyer he met years ago.
The President appealed the public to grant him some privacy "or what little of it that is left" and eventually allow him to have a "love life."
"Kapag sinagot ko kayo lalo na walang matitira doon (private life). Maawa naman kayo, five percent na lang nga," he said when further asked about his love life.
The President was reportedly seen dining at the Nuvo Restaurant and Wine Bar in Greenbelt 2 in Makati City Saturday for three hours with his date identified as "Barbie Palagos."
When asked further about his relationship with his date, Aquino said "I am just being friendly at this point in time."
He said his date might refuse to see him again after the so much interest in his love life.
"Baka hindi na kami magkikita muli dahil ayaw niya na center of attention siya.Halos lahat ng makikila ko ganun ang sasabihin. Pag na-experience nilang ganito pala ito, ang makakausap ko nalang iyung mga madre ng Carmelites," he said, smiling.
Aquino joked that the media should probably ask him about his love life in 2030 since by that time he would be in a wheelchair or in a retirement home.
"At this point in time, priority natin ang matters of the state. Iyung matters of the heart ay ipapanood ko na lang sa DVD," he said.
Rumors about the breakup between Aquino and Soledad resurfaced after the Valenzuela councillor was reportedly seen holding hands with a politician from her hometown.
The two declined to comment on their rumored breakup and another rumor about Aquino's supposed interest in a television reporter.
