BULLETIN: LESSONS FROM THE CHILE RESCUE

That's how the Chilean Ambassador to the Philippines Roberto Mayorga attributed the miraculous rescue operation as the world exploded in joy over 33 Chile miners after 69 days.

The successful operation is a celebration of life. By the way, we also had a rescue operation not so long ago but unfortunately, it was a dismal failure. To quote a doctor-friend of mine: "The operation was successful but the patients died."
Chile's rescue operation has a timely message for us Filipinos, that is, to value life at any and all cost.

It comes at a time in our country when there are advocates of abortion or abortifacient contraceptives under the guise of reproductive health.
Dr. Ligaya Acosta, who used to work for the Department of Health (DoH) but had a change of heart, declared that the term is a grand misnomer because the proposed House bill subtly endangers the life and health of mothers and death to the child.

Pity the poor because they are the target victims if the bill is passed. "The President ran under the slogan 'Walang mahirap kung walang corrupt,'" she added, "but the corruption of young minds (under Sex Education which is pornographic) and subtle abortion is the worst corruption."

PARADOXICAL PEACE PROCESS. The House of Representatives are up in arms against Secretary Teresita Deles, head of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace Process (OPAPP).
The representatives even demanded unanimously her resignation due to her hostile attitude and demeaning acts not only on Rep. Fatima Aliah Dimaporo but also her fellow Muslim colleagues.

Moreover, instead of approving her annual budget of R235 million, a Mindanao representative proposed a P1 budget.
It's very parodoxical because the dispute comes from - of all offices - the Office for Peace Process!
Let there peace and let it begin in the Peace Process office. Cool and humble ka lang, Secretary!

BY THE WAY... on the Chile rescue operation, it is reported that when the miners emerged from their entombment, their private lives also came to light.
For instance, one of the miners, Johnny Barrios Rojas, had two women anxiously waiting: His wife of 28 years and his mistress of four years. The wife apparently knew nothing of the affair until the two women ran into each other - and a "very public spat ensued." Poor miner, would he have preferred to remain underground?

Another miner, Mario Gomez, 63, had promised his wife that if he came out alive of the tragedy, they would finally have their church wedding - after 30 years, four daughters, and seven grandchildren!
A brush with death is, indeed, a great revealer and motivator to straighten one's life.
